Well it appears I didn't take any photos showing straight down the trumpets but I did fit the air filter:
Very pissed off at the carbon filter box though as you have to put the bottom of the filter through the holes and it puts pressure on the mounts when you squeeze the top together. First...
I am sure they will do just fine. The only difference with the originals is they have a splined section at the end which helps them not spin when you tighten them up. Providing you have two 21mm sockets/spanners you're laughing. :)
I went ahead and started on the air filter box.
I had the measurements from Jenvey but decided to do it using a cardboard template so I know it matches what I have. I first out some card up against the bodies and marked where the holes were. I then drilled these out.
Once I knew the box would...
Right I'm back from a trip to the pub for tea.
I took the plugs out of the engine this morning to find it had BOSCH plugs so swapped them out for the NGK R from the other engine. Both engines ran fine with either plugs but happy to have the NGK in the engine.
I also changed over the fuel rail...
Well I changed the Bosch spark plugs for NGK R plugs and swapped over the fuel rail and injectors. I also spoke to K-Tec and got the latest base map to load up and then I set the TPS again. Still not convinced it's running spot on but they are pretty well balanced when I used the air flow meter...
Now I had the TPS working I could start setting the idle, TPS min and Max and balancing the bodies.
This didn't go down too well as it ran really rough and only running on two or three cylinders:
Well I haven't been posting on here much but I have been a busy bee over the past few days. I had to go up to Aberdeen for three days so that put a hold on things but since getting back I have filled the gearbox with oil, fitted the radiator and actually got the car running.
Had a struggle with...
Jenvey wanted £75 +Vat to drill the holes so I thought I would give it a go myself.
Jenvey sent me the measurements but I decided to make a template from card using the bodies mounted to the car to make sure it was spot on.
I did have to cut the inner skin on the bonnet to get the...
Had some bother with the TPS but got that sorted now so will spend some time tomorrow checking the plugs, leads, injectors and balancing the ITBs and hopefully it will run smoothly.
I have got my engine running tonight and got the ITB's installed and started setting them up. There seems to some issue with one of the cylinders backfiring. Can anyone tell me what is causing this and what I can do to fix it?
Nice to see you have a blue and silver clio sat together. Lol.
Please can I recall page 5 and your radiator and fan setup? I have found the same radiator on eBay and about to purchase it but am unsure firstly how or if it is mounted at all and secondly how do you mount a fan by bolting through...
60 to 100 is a 66% gain. If you're going to ridicule at least get the maths right. Perhaps you were just overestimating as much as the OP is? Lol
To the OP. Everyone starts somewhere and it's great that you're playing with what you have. Makes a change to see something different and as long as...
What spacing do you run comparative to front and rear? As in if you run 10mm spacers on the front do you run 10mm on the back? If you run a wider track at the back than the front or visa versa what effect does this have on turn in and steering characteristics? Assuming camber is the same front...
Been reading all about the installation and the technical reasons behind lubrication, torquing etc etc so happy with that. What's the easiest way to slowly turn the engine over to access each one?
Nah nothing too difficult or slow going really. Just quite a lot to do. Silver one was a pain as it was all crushed together but it gave me some experience for doing the blue one. Getting it back in wasn't too difficult but I wouldn't want to do it with a freshly painted engine bay! Lol.
Yeah I had a good chat with Powervamp about the battery and they said it's just as powerful as the Oddesey but not made in US so may just not last as long. I have a charger and solar panel so hopefully will be able to keep it in tip top condition and it will last. If I lasts longer than half the...
