    JB3 leaking input shaft

Well its officially been swallowed by the garage floor! Had 7 people looking for it, everything in the garage moved and nothing! So if anyone has a broken open gearbox and wants to donate me one of these puppies it would be much appreciated!

    JB3 leaking input shaft

I did use a magnet for the de-tent balls thankfully! This just dropped out when I wasn't expecting it! I have another broken gearbox I can open up and steal that piece from if I have to. But it should be on the garage floor, going to have a proper look tonight!

    JB3 leaking input shaft

Nah it's ok it goes in here! I've got all the wee pins in that go in the casing/between the shafts. I just need to find that little pin to put back in before I can put the selector fork back on. Once I find this bit and put it back in then everything is on place and it's just the casing...

    JB3 leaking input shaft

Yea I've got all the shafts back in place But I managed to drop one of these little f*****s onto the floor of the garage. I literally watched it hit the floor, put the piece I was holding onto the bench and in the mean time it vanished. Spent 1 hour looking for it but couldn't find it! Will...

    JB3 leaking input shaft

Well I worked it out! Checked the manual and got this diagram but that didn't make it very clear which one was which. So found this image online. Have highlighted the pin going through the middle which confirms that the long pin goes between reverse shaft and 1 - 2 selector rod and the two...

    JB3 leaking input shaft

Got the box back from Rentec with the new bearing pressed in. They said it was a bit of a pain as it was really tight but it's in so the rebuild can start! Just a few question first though!! Where do all these go? Haha I know that 2 of the springs and bearings go on the outside of the casing...

    Jamie's boosted bean

I went for Mintex M1144 pads in the end. I originally wanted ds2500's but they are double the price and my car hasn't seen the track yet so I couldn't justify the dc2500's. Il try the M1144's and if they are s**t then I will change them! So went for: HC front discs Mintex M1144 pads Goodridge...

    Jamie's boosted bean

Thanks guys its a little bit of fun I suppose. Will get bored of it at some point and get Andy to send me the normal map without the flames!! Just spent £325 with G172 on brakes so can't wait to get them fitted. Its well over due!

    Jamie's boosted bean

Well it's been a fairly mixed few weeks with the car. Got it back after the tweeks from Andy and it was awesome. Totally different car to drive, a lot smoother with the power delivery. And it now shoots flames as well (inner chav released) After having a shot of Andy's car with the PMS...

    Richy's Inferno Turbo

Another turbo inferno yay! I'll be looking into doing a forged build next year to take mine to about the 300bhp mark. Sounds like you haven't had much luck with your car, hopefully you have more luck with the turbo build!!

    JB3 leaking input shaft

That's the bearing and seal ordered up,should hopefully be able to pick it up Tuesday and drop it off to Rentec and get them to press the old one out and new one in! Also going to order up some 518 loctite as well for sealing the casing back together. Cheers for your help so far lads [emoji106]

    JB3 leaking input shaft

The picture didn't work dude. What way does everything press out? Does it come out gear side or bell housing side? I don't have a press but is there anything a can buy/make to do this or am I better going to Rentec and getting them to do it properly?

    JB3 leaking input shaft

Right I understand that so that the earring goes back into the same place it comes out! What's the procedure from here to get the bearing and the seal out? Il be replacing the bearing at the same time as the seal. Also long to do the 5th gear oil feed!

    JB3 leaking input shaft

Progress is being made! Have managed to strip the box thanks to Rentec Edinburgh that helped me pull the gear off on the top of the shaft! They also loaned me a couple of dummy shafts which will make it much easier to put the rods back through the casing while holding the springs and bearings...

    JB3 leaking input shaft

That's me got the shaft back in and reverse selected but the cogs at the top are still turning. Do I need to push the 5th shaft down more? Thanks for your help btw dude! Much appreciated! [emoji106]

    JB3 leaking input shaft

Yea I f**ked up! The long shaft at the bottom of my picture i've pulled too far out by accident and now cant get it back in. When I pull the selector down I can swing it back and forward but that's the only movement I can get. Doh! Oh well I am learning how not to do it!

    JB3 leaking input shaft

Ok well this is where I've got to. I only have one gear at the selector on the bottom of the box and yea I don't really know what shaft I'm ment to be trying to push down lol.

    JB3 leaking input shaft

What do you mean 5th gear off? Bear in mind I've never opened up a box and never really seen the inside of a box either. So select reverse with the leaver on the bottom and then how do I push 5th gear down after that? Then loosen all the bolts around the outside, deselect reverse and 5th...

    JB3 leaking input shaft

Sweet so you recon I should be able to get the box split easy enough after I break the selector leaver? Haha Might give it a bash tomorrow and see what happens. As long as nothing pings out as soon as I start to split it!!

    JB3 leaking input shaft

Depends what tools are needed! If it's just spanners, sockets that kind of thing then I have all that. If it's specialist tools then I might be able to borrow them from my friendly Renault specialist garage!! Skill wise I'm fairly practical and fairly good at looking at things and working out...

    JB3 leaking input shaft

I have a JB3 gearbox in my DCI just now. I've had problems with the car leaking engine oil through the gearbox but I've replaced the crank seal and flywheel bolts twice and it seems to have stopped leaking engine oil. However it has started leaking gearbox oil out the bottom of the gearbox...

    Engine oil leaking into gearbox

I did have a quick whiff but got a bit of a cold just now so will get a mate to smell it lol Just the sight of oil on the bottom of the box just about made me freak out haha! Will investigate more tomorrow. Kind of hope it's box oil as this would mean that I managed to get the crank seal on...
