Still leaking, pretty f**king fed up with it now.
I've not really had a chance to see what it's dropping but it seems to be more yellowy/orange this time so suspecting it might actually be gearbox oil this time to mix things up abit.
Will have a better look at what it's dropping tomorrow...
It's hard to describe what I mean but the narrowest point of the seal is on the inside edge that points inwards towards the engine. When fitting the seal does this narrow bit have to stay closest to the engine or does it need to kind of fold out when tapping the outside part of the seal?
That's cool man cheers.
Is it possible to use the wee white thing that it comes on in the package to slide it over? Do you know the bit I mean?
Was also potentially thinking about cutting the top off a 2L bottle of juice and see what size it is compared to the inside of the seal to try make...
I've gone with option B!!
I've read that the sump bolts can round pretty easy to round and I don't want that!
I'm gonna fit the new crank seal and flywheel bolts and hope for the best. I've got a new clutch that I need to stick in but I'm not doing that until I know it's not leaking so the...
Ok what would you guys do as it's the 3rd time the box has been off.
Would you:
A. Just push the seal a bit further in and replace the flywheel bolts and put it all back together.
B. Replace the crank seal and the flywheel bolts and put it back together
C. Replace the crank seal, sump...
Got everything off today, still not sure where it's coming from. Does it look like the seals not far enough in or.... Does anyone want to come and have a look that has more experience, cars near west Calder just now in the unit! Haha
Don't buy the shitey cheap stuff off eBay its very difficult to get looking good. I bought cheap stuff to do my Sunstrip and it was just a disaster. Went to a wrapping place and bought some decent stuff off them and it was so much easier to apply and looked so much better!
Yea I read it was an absolute pain the the arse so I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't done right! It's the first time I've ever taken a box off as well so I'm on a steep learning curve!
Il order another seal and see if I can give it another bash! Any tips?
So I have engine oil leaking out the bottom of the gearbox on my DCI which has contaminated the clutch. It only happens when the oil gets hot and it's a health drip every second or 2.
I have changed the crankshaft seal and when putting the oil back in it used 3/4 of a litre less than what came...
There is an RB that's sometimes parked on the grass under the trees on Greenbank drive too, not sure if the guy is on here but keep meaning to post up!
Slight flat spot when coming on boost, dead spot at the top of the accelerator and generally just a new map as andy changed mappers since I had my car done so naturally the new mapper wants to redo the whole map to his standards!
Tweeks include new intercooler pipe work and a fuel return line...
It's just the clutch plate Wayne so it should be fine!
Here are a few more pictures of the car as it's down with andy just now for a few wee tweeks etc!
The pipe work has been changed to a solid silver pipe which I think looks really good!
Getting the map redone by chris@efi
And my...
It looks like the thread is pretty mashed but you could try winding a nut just about right on then locking another nut against it and then try and unwind it that way.
Thanks. It's a lot more fun to drive than a standard car, it just picks up speed so much quicker and it makes motorway driving in 5th a pleasure.
Not got my clutch done yet, andy is doing it this week as the cars down with him just now for some little tweeks!
sburrell93 I'm going to have to bail on the karting as I can't get the day off work but if people are still about once I finish work then I will come and meet folk!
