£45 for just a clip test.
The diagnostic charge almost always relates to one hours labour charge unless its something minor like a window stuck down etc.
My 172 is actually the most unreliable car i ve ever owned, however its so good to drive I will continue to plough money in to it, to be fair i ve only had a few minor issues in it accross 6k, my 1.2 on the other hand was faultless.
I work for a main dealer and 80% of the vehicles we have in...
Its out of manufacturers warranty, the warranty you have is an extended warranty prob with the likes of motorcare. They will pay for the cost of the repair but they won't pay the diagnostic charges, the diag charges are normally 1hrs labour.
The exhaust won't be covered.
I would't entertain less than £2.5k for mine (2000 W/ 66k), having looked at loads you need to go for the more expensive ones if you want anything near mint.
Whats the mileage on it?
The 1.2's aren't very consistent, mine had just turned 60k with regular servicing, belt change etc, pulled 100mph in 4th was loose as anything and free revved up to the limiter in anything but 5th.
My mates 04 plate with 15k on the clock at the time was slower than...
Yep.
Had the n/s drive shaft seal changed, had a selector seal kit. I think it still leaks gearbox oil. Its not a great gearbox anyway, worst bit in the car imo, its on the same level as the 'box in my old J reg astra, much prefer the gearbox in my Zetec S.
It wouldn't be listed as anything unless your wrote it off and bought it back.
I would just get it serviced at Renault the £40-50 you may save on the 12k isn't worth the hassle if you have anything major go wrong within the warranty period.
This is what Renault would change:
Parts prices:
7700106271 CORE PLUG LA 7.90
7700274026 PLUG LA £4.04
7701476674 KIT CAMBELT £160.39
7701477519 ACESS BELT KIT £127.57
Parts total £299.90
Book time is 5.7 HR
@ £70 / hr that give you a total quote of £758.75 INC
50%?!
I would put money on it not being a like for like quote. I expect they are using non genuine bits and not changing the aux belt tensioner. Renault would of quoted for cambelt and aux belt kits. Worth checking what they are doing as I can't believe anywhere charges less than £50/hr labour...
