Only came on last week and according to the garage the diagnostics were showing a misfire(s).
I'd found for quite a while now that often when starting from cold it was misfiring when initially driving away then everything is totally fine after <30s.
Garage is recommending new ignition leads...
Was this just a case of trial and error to find these?
No.
I thought the fact it starts so immediately the second attempt might hint towards a particular issue.
This is why I tend to avoid DIY, one issue where you need a specific tool you don't have and you're fucked.
Just got the car set up on axle stands and everything only to find the allen key bends and the hex in the top of the shock absorber rod starts to round before the nut will slacken...
No to both although the water pump is only a little over 2 years old. Would a head gasket issue not present obvious problems over the sort of miles I've driven?
The oil looks totally normal.
So what's the best way to go about setting the car on 2 axle stands at the front if there isn't a place in the centre to jack it?
Is it too dodgy to sort an axle stand on one side then lift the other side?
An original Renault cap seems to have made no difference. The car has gone from the max mark to the min mark in around 1600 miles.
This cap also feels like I could over tighten it to the point it will just loosen off again. Can anyone tell me if their cap does this? Any other car I've had you...
Reviving this with any luck.
Hadn't really noticed much of an issue for a good while now but in the last couple of months there's been a handful of occasions where the car has failed to start first time. When attempting to start a second time it's instant with no hint of hesitation.
Could it...
Bought a set off ebay for £25 and did them myself. Didn't have to take the car off the road that way. Got seals and parts from brakeparts and biggred.
I only did them myself because of access to tools and equipment at my work. One of the nipples had been rounded and it took a couple of attempts...
Mechanic has checked the dogbone (already powerflexed) and gone round the suspension components checking for anything loose and can't find s**t.
Perhaps it isn't the exhaust hitting off the anti-roll bar? I've found a thread from 2008 where a chap describes the exact same issue and it turns out...
Got these refurbished calipers fitted today and it seems to have solved the problem. Mechanic did say one the original calipers felt a bit sticky so I'll be interested to see what they're like when I remove the pistons.
Pulled slightly left a couple of times under hard braking but I suspect...
No, hadn't given it any thought. There's certainly no sign of the oil filler cap or oil being in anything other than good condition.
Didn't notice that before! The one I got looked ok.
In my continuing saga of trying to rectify umpteen small faults...
Slowly been losing coolant for a while but no leaks are evident (going from max to mid-way on the tank after around 1000 miles) so replaced the cap with this-...
I've cleaned up the one dodgy looking rear light connection (far right in picture) as best as I could and sprayed them with bilt hamber ferrosol but no joy.

Tempted to just get a new cruise control switch as I'm...
In typically ridiculously delayed fashion I've finally got round to removing the air bag. Black connector is plugged in, anything untoward that I'm not noticing?
Something else I've only just noticed recently is the rear fog lamp light on the dash lighting up when pressing the brakes. I've read...
The bit everyone forgot to mention in all the posts I saw was that one of the connections (there are 2, the easy one is within a few inches of the base) is right down the driver side C pillar. As in the video, you'll want to remove some of the boot trim and rubber cover on the top mount to allow...
