The weight of this bonnet is unreal, literally one finger to lift... I've made sure the bonnet pins are very tight to avoid any flapping around. Drove it from Cardiff -> Basingstoke last night and had no problems at all.
OK so a small update, things have slowed down due to a house purchase but doing what I can! Managed to get hold of a fibreglass bonnet from a race car, not in amazing condition but will get it repaired and wrapped again. Many thanks to Andrewclio for driving over to help me fit it, great guy...

You *may* be able to drop the exhaust manifold between the block and the firewall/guard or whatever it's called but I wouldn't like to say for sure. When i tried to see how far off it was (with the head on) there was no chance it was going to get down there, hence I dropped the subframe. Good luck
Yes, you remove the rear caliper (two bolts at the back), then remove the disc/bearing after undoing the hub nut, then you can see the four bolts that hold the stub axel onto the car. Remove the original bolts, then pull the axel off. Insert the hub spacer inbetween and push the new bolts...
The direction I'm going is as light as possible, i.e. totally stripped, custom loom, custom dash, lightweight battery, polycarbs all round, fibreglass bonnet/tailgate/doors and then 210-220bhp under the hood.

I've searched the forum but couldn't get 100% clarification... will a 182 cylinder head fit directly onto my 172 cup block? I'm looking at purchasing one and having it ported, polished, new valves, new valve springs etc, but don't want to do all this work to find out that I'd need a 182...
