Bought a bottom end claiming to be from a ph2 172 a good while back.
Would just like to know it is indeed what its claimed to be and not from a 1.8 Laguna or something :o
What engine codes should relate to a 172 / 182 bottom end?.
The numbers i have are; 063410 Z F4...
The fitting kit is a pile of rubbish (genuine)
Got sick of mine always wearing out and blowing every other year so ended up bolting it up using the biggest bolts which would fit but keeping the kit springs and rounded end washers. Never had a issue again in roughly 5 or 6 years.
Yeah was told the same, only a couple of dodgy sets.
Would never have known they were dodgy if it wasn't for having different cams fitted previous and had a comparison to go by.
Very strange how the majority of supercharged Clio's get broken within a couple of years maximum :S
The reports are they are reliable and the power speaks for its self. Doesn't even appear its for financial savings either in the majority of cases yet most build the ultimate Clio then want to...
Can you re-use cambelt idler pulley torx bolts and the tensioner spring or is it advisable to replace with new?
The kit i got (Ford) did not include bolts and spring for the idler pulleys.
Very good point.
The reason for a MOT was originally to make sure your car is road worthy.
Its now more about trying to find faults which have nothing to do with ''safety''.
The more and more bollox they include in the test and the knock on massive garage bills the public will face as a...
If you can't find a twin lambda version you could always lengthen the one you have. Would probably work out a lot cheaper cutting and extending it than buying a 2nd hand cat unless you got lucky
If a Clio Sport is chavy what the hell does this make a V6 Clio, Evo's, Scooby's, Cosworths etc etc etc
Probably about the least chavy hatch going.
My girlfriend has never moaned at it once! - Even had a random bird come up to me in a club asking about it
Lots of generic science on this thread but leaving velocity, flow rates and Google search classroom calculations behind, the question is, on a Clio 172 does fitting one make a difference?
The majority who have fitted one (most maybe in conjunction with other breathing mods) say yes.
The 182 is now a ''sports cat it flows so well'' to quote you yet the 172 cat happens to be a waste of time changing? How does this work? :S
The 182 cat is good because its only 180 cells (or something) which makes it more free flowing and less restrictive than a 172. So taking this theory...
The standard exhaust and cat is designed to meet EU regulations on noise and pollution levels.
This rubbish about back pressure and loosing power as a result doesn't happen with a mere 2.5 inch bore exhaust on a Clio. If you went beyond this then yes.
Removing a cat on a 172 does aid...
