I'm afraid you'll pay through the nose for pre-processing equipment. If you wanna do it on some kind of budget, you'll have to do some kind of processing and that's the best solution I've found...
Chip,
We've got the DL1 and a GoPro and I've found a reasonably economical way of producing the videos (like this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJhM2aw70Ts)
Our setup is reasonably simple.... we take the brake switch and use it to light up a small LED in the centre of the dash (you can just...
James, what made you decide not to race the car then? Surely once you've got passed some of these little issues it's just a case of racing and no more money spent on developing the car?
Not so sure I would advise buying the seat after you've built the car.... because fabricating everything to fit properly is key, especially when it comes to driving position.
As said above, seats and belts have 5 years on them (from date of manufacture) and race suits have 10. Cages, boots...
We tried that too, made a little spacer on the lathe... It helped a bit, but you've gotta be really careful 'cause you're moving the pivot point of the CV away from the hub and you'll have less spline engagement. A bit too much torque and a bit too much lock and you could easily snap it off...
If you increase the track by more than 10mm... the driveshafts will pop out! We learnt that the hard way trust me. We've ended up 30mm further out each side, but with longer driveshafts to suit.
James,
I'd be really interested to know what you paid for the constituent parts.... 'cause we've done this, but instead of getting a machined elogated pin on the bottom of the hub we've lifted the pick up points on the subframe! This caused a couple of clearances issues, so I think the way...
We're obviously running a fair bit stiffer springs than standard and hence we get a bit less travel. If you are using your car on track specifically, the standard springs and dampers aren't really up to the job (trust me, I've got a road going 172 we've put on the track back to back).
If you're...
We run the Direzza 55 profiles on our race car.... We switched to them when we found out the difference in cost!! £360 for a set of 4 versus £450!
After a bit of calculation, we determined that the top of the tyre would be ~9mm closer to the inner arch and that the speed difference was ~3%...
I've been accused a few times by the other 2 for concentrating on the way it looks rather than how it performs.... but it performs now, so it's had a good bit of decoration!
I'm glad you went for yellow and not green like us! We started originally painting things yellow and then changed our...
It was particularly quick... he was coming back through the pack after his success penalty with quite some speed. The shell and the engine are definitely scrap, probably most of the front end chassis too, he might be able to salvage some of the cage and most of the rear end though... assuming he...
Haha... I was looking a picture #10!!!
That was the fastest car in the modern classics race.... he locked up trying to overtake in to redgate and just plowed straight on. It skipped across the gravel and hit the tyres at quite a speed! He got out eventually after a precautionary few minutes...
Here's a link to an album on our facebook page which has a nice selection of photos from Saturday's race. A race report and video will follow soon.

We should've probably made a bit more of an effort to talk to the rest of the Clio clan to be honest, we just had quite a few people with us and went off to watch some of the racing! No excuses next time though, I'll make sure we go socialising a bit!
Annoyingly, I don't think we're going to...
Well, we ended up being the top finishing Clio after starting 3rd out of 5 clios. I think the 2 in front of us made a bad call with bringing their drivers in... there was a safety car at the 18 minute mark, which caused a bit of a shuffle with many getting stuck at the end of the pit lane. We...

Results from today's race.
We're chuffed with it, managed to pull out a 12th place finish after a grid position of 22nd. Thanks to everyone who came to support and/or help out today, it wasn't the best weather for most of the day, but it was...
Tony.... I've been paying attention to the initial proposed rules etc and have had one thought going round. If people are limited to standard suspension, wouldn't this cause perhaps excessive tyre wear which in turn would result in extra cost in the long run?? We ran my road car round the track...
We've looked at the Birkett relay and realllllllyyyyy wanna do it, but it won't be until next year for us. I think we're all still on 3 signatures so it'll be next year unfortunately!
Wasn't the purpose of this thread to find out the difference between the 182 and the 172 cup.... has anyone weighed a conventional 182 or 172 cup? And as I said before, weighed it properly rather than guessing how much different items weigh....
I know what you mean, a quicker rack would be nice.... but it costs! This is the exact same ratio, just a little bit more feedback to the driver, and less mass of course!
We've not just pulled the pump out and crimped the pipes up though.... that would be the stupid way of doing it, because we'd still have to either push fluid or air against itself. We took the gear out of the rack and cut out the seal that sits in the middle, then greased up the gear and stuck...
Why do you all keep hypothesising about how much stuff weighs....?? Why don't you actually weigh the damn car!! AND when you weigh them, make sure they're in the same loading condition!! The figures you see in brochures for vehicles will never be a good like for like comparison because of how...
