When all is said and done, it's a game. If it's anything like the original it will be great. If I want real then I get in my car. I want a game to entertain me and Grid does, as above it's a good blend between arcade and sim.
They have spacers on, maybe the new ones haven't got them. Hope your original ones still have them.
You might just need to clean up the stub axle though.
As I said on PH, it happened to a lad on Pro Race 2s, that he had from new and weren't powdercoated. So he knew the history of the wheels and they were in their original factory finish.
I'd be questioning the quality of the test driver, if he couldn't tell the difference. For the price, I'm not expecting ultimate performance, just better than road tyres.
It's all trial and error then really, what suits one might not suit another. Some tyres respond better on track with a few more psi in, others are better softer.
