Faulty RAM would cause data corruption.. that data corruption will have been written to the drive hence changing the ram wouldnt fix the corruption that is already present. You would need to replace the ram AND rebuild the server. Is it using ECC ram ?

IIRC the mac address is attached to TCP/IP packets.. therefor capture a packet and you would have the mac address you need to spoof.. Its been a while since I looked at the TCP/IP standards though heh.

Why not get one of those ones that doesnt need batteries.. you just shake it a bit or wind it up.. then when you need it a year later it will still work..
