I use the Blitz more as a top-up than a dedicated sealant, its caranuba based so works well with caranuba waxes but the Jeffs acrylic definitely bonds to the SRP better and is more durable. The Blitz finish is better on dark cars than the Jeffs though and is even easier to use. Both good...
It is all about customer service. I don't use companies that treat the customer badly, just wish my bank and phone providor were as good as my detailing suppliers!
PS - Happy Christmas guys!
Thats true, never had anything less than great service from Clean Your Car, Car Wash N Wax, Serious Performance and Polished Bliss.
All offer great and fairly objective product advice if you ask and are all reliable and trustworthy people.
I tend to order more from CYC as they supply most...
Right guys, I was originally going to buy an off-the-shelf product but seeing what some of you on here have achieved at a much lower price for better results has convinced me otherwise.
I am not actually looking to buy all the components etc yet, in the next couple of months or so, just trying...
Yeah my mum's friend is a carer an dwanted me to do her patients car "just a quick wash and polish" - I never like to turn away work but no way am I stepping outside to earn £40 or whatever!
Even a couple of decent cars I want to do might have to wait due to weather - wish I had a nice little...
^ As Rich said, I intend on waxing up in the next couple of weeks before going back to uni but not going to bother until it gets a bit warmer and less damp in the air as otherwise its an absoolue mare to remove, especially the 476s.
Doesn't look as impressive as the results some others have shown. Matt from i4detailing put up some pictures a while back which looked mighty fine...will have a quick search to see if I can find them...
EDIT: found it! http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?t=279056
I'm not sure about that to be honest, I saw it myself but as the lance everyone seems to be buying is like £45 they can't be the same thing.
Having said that I would like to know the difference as that on paper sounds ok?
Anyone in the know about this??!
For a start, any decent amount of correction will only be achievable using the hardest pad, so not surprised the softer ones didn't help a whole lot.
As for swirls remaining, even though the VW paint is hard you should be able to work it well. Maybe your not spending enough time on each panel...
Mine feels like its about to tale off at 6 and the amount of vibrations it causes can't work at that speed comfortably.
Are you trying to kill me people?!?! ;)
Lovely car that, definitely worth taking care of as it really adds to the cars presence.
If you get it detailed make sure to take some before and after photos - will help when you come to sell too if you get through your motors.
If I can get the same resultswithout vibrating my arm off I will take that route I think!
I do use 6 when needed but definitely prefer 5, makes a big difference, but I have been told some machines either are faster than others (e.g. the gearing is slightly different) or something...but anyway...
Yeah definitely worth doing. About every 6 months sounds about right, wish a decent wash routine in the middle which you can do yourself to keep it protected.
What BMW have you got by the way?
If thats all you want to do I would try the Super Spray system. Probably not as robust as the Gilmour, but can still alter dilution rate and is £10 compared to the £40 or more for the Gilmour. Very happy with mine for the money.
Depends where you are. MK = Milton Keynes I presume? If you go onto Detailing World and ask someone should be closer to you.
As for cost, depends how good you want the job, as you generally get what you pay for. Owning a BMW it is well worth getting a good job as it can massively effect...
Clay - you shouldn't do it that often as even with great care it will either induce fine swirls or else just remove protection and leave it looking a bit worse. Sonus Green is designed to remoe very fine contaminants, if you are looking for something a bit stronger I would go for a grey bar -...
A black car which is badly scratched and swirled will be an absolute nightmare to work on by hand, especially using off-the-shelf Halfords products.
You are better off spending a bit more and getting it done properly rather than spending some money now and realising it has little effect. That...
^ No problemo, most of it is common sense although you will get quicker and produce better results with experience.
You are lucky to have a garage to work in though, I don't and meant to be doing some cars but its too cold out and gets dark too early!
You will be amazed how much improvement...
You will be fine on the PC, just make sure you CLEAN the surface properly before hand, e.g. good wash down and normally a clay, MASK off plastics, and most importantly of all - TAKE YOUR TIME AND DON'T RUSH - check your progress and start in a test panel which will help you determine the best...
I can't explain why it is a liquid - it just is a liquid! Although a very solid one! If you look at older forms of glasses, like the ones used in churches, the glass at the bottom will be marginally thicker than the top, as over time gravity has "pulled" molecules down. Obviously in day to day...
The Blackfire is a gel but works great on most plastics too with a minimal amount of buffing. To be honest though I would buff pretty much any plastic dressing a little after applying it to get rid of any excess.
Remember, if your glass is badly damaged it can be replaced for about £50 through your insurance, doesn't affect your NCB or anything. Saves spending money on a product that probably won't achieve much - glass is tough s**t, although did you know glass is actually a liquid? FACT!
