How did you fit the guard??? Where I live all non-RS clios came equipped with the metal sump guard, so naturally I went to the dealer's but they told me that the metal guard wouldnt fit the 1*2.
get a sponge with lots of foamy water, place the foam here and there, in the places where you feel the air coming from. You'll get big bubbles in any place that has an air leak. Kinda like what you do when you are working with a gas line (LP or natural, as in stove or furnace).
upper gearbox mount, as above. Had the same knocking, changed the dognbone first, kept knocking, changed the gearbox mount, problem solved. The old mount was noticeably more flexible than the brand new mount.
When you say stock ignition leads you mean the same ones that your car left the factory with? Same thing happened with mine.
Ended up using a set from a VW VR6, made by Beru. Perfect fit!
Thanks Mates. Mine were supplied by renault, and are clearly stamped with both renault and ferodo. Been thinnking about upgrading, most likely to the 2500s that everyone swears by.
I've read here that one common problem is a noisy PS caused by the restrictive PAS return line, which renault improved on the 182 and replaced as warranty work on the 172. The PSS feels ok, it's not getting gradually louder or anything, it wont drown the engine sound, the steering hasnt been...
Sorted. There´s another line from the rack to the reservoir whick looks pretty tight, restrictionwise. Is that the one that I should be replacing instead of the larger one, or both? I mean, which one of those 2 lines is the restriction that causes all that whining?
yes, the pump is whining for sure. I'm just hoping this will quiet it down a bit. A mate owns a trophy (and you thought it was only a UK edition, right?) at it's a lot more quiet than mine. Another mate with a 172 is just as loud as mine. I mean, it wont drown the engine sound, but from what...
Im getting a new return line for my 172, I've had enough whining! Anyway, the shop that's making me the new PAS line told me to bring in my old one and they'll take it from there (basically I'll just make it wider and round out the bends). Anyway, anyone got a pic of exactly where to undo the...
afaik octane is a retardant, so it makes sense that a lower octane fuel works the other way around.
I´ve also switched to lower octane last winter and it made for better morning startups
the pump has a floater, similar to what youd find in your toilet. So basically this floater is linked to the fuel gauge, if it gets stuck then the gauge gets stuck in one position. Now, if it´s just acting up like a crazy gauge then it´s likely that the wiring is acting up.
A screech usually means that a belt is slipping. Loss of power means that the power steering pump is not working. So a pulley (not the drive pulley) might have frozen somewhere for a sec. I'd check the tensioner first.
there's only 3 kinds of smoke that your car can have: black, blue, or white. White smoke is water vapour, and the most common cause as stated above is a blown headgasket. Park your car and have someone rev it up while you look at the exhaust fumes.
I've just literally came back from cleaning the TDC sensor in my car.
It had a very lumpy idle every morning, being it cold or warm. My car would also start on the second time, every time. This morning the car decided it would crank but not fire up.
Cleaned the tdc sensor, and the car...
try searching again mate. That's a relatively common issue. There are two electrical motors on the rear of the climate control unit (have to remove the center console where the ashtray is), there's a small guide with pics about a guy who repaired his with some plastic ties.
the limiter is 1000 revs over that if I recall. Thing is, if i dont floor the gas pedal it will go all the way to 7k+, if I do floor it it sticks at 6K. So nope, it's not the limiter. Thanks for your answer!
