I had 2118's when my car was on sportlines, whilst they don't look that bad it's still not 100% right. Save up for some coileys and then invest in 15" IMO. If you want, I can swap my standard alloys for the turinis ;)
Tbh, I had the parts powder coated after chatting to a few people. Parts are fine as the paint will cure in the oven. VHT is great but the engine temp will never come close to powdercoating melting. It's also free for me to do :)
The only cost implication was the rebuild and that was something we needed to do either way. We didn't want to buy a second hand one and Fred helped to build one that will be strong, and be even more powerful if we were to go down the ITB route or similar. The manifold has cost us next to nothing ;)
Update #23 - Fix yet another issue ;)
After a few quotes we decided to go with West Renault for the alternator and Megane spark plugs. Nick had previously had major issues fitting the bottom cap screws to the manifold so I purchased an extension bar to make the job a lot easier. The end...
Nice meeting you this weekend, what happend when the car was going slow on clay hill? Me and Nick put our hands on our head when you went past us slow :( Glad to see the car was back in the thick of it after a lap or two.
Just spoke to Fred about it, does seem to be the case :(
I can try my battery on the car and get a reading, or just re-charge and take it from there. Lets hope the battery and alternator are not fudged now.
If you are using standard brake calipers then these are spot on for overall performance and cost. I ran DS2500 on my 182 and these are a big step ahead in regards to stopping power and reduced brake fade. They do like to munch the discs a little but a worthy upgrade.
I need to make time to do costings and chat to my manager before this design would ever go into production. Alot of people helped outside of working hours or squeezed bits in on their lunch break. Full on production would mean setup times, material, labour costs etc, but also hold up work as we...
Update #22 - Manifold development and build
During the middle stage of the engine build I came across the chance to buy a Clio super 1600 manifold for quite a good price. After researching on the spec we unfortunately found out that the port spacing did not match the F4R. This led me to think...
Spent this morning at work finishing off some test parts for the car. More to be shown next week when we trial fit them onto the car and get the parts fully welded up and powder coated. We were aiming to go to Donny but a few complications meant we were running behind schedule so knocked it on...
Will check the diary for that date :) We have run the engine in so just finishing off our mini project before it gets mapped. It's a bit behind schedule but will post more info up when It's complete and mapped.
Percy is now back at my place to free up Nicks garage and to let me get on with some other tasks. As you can see, he is in good company with the other clio members of the family ;)
There are tinging noises coming from the engine bay so we fear this could be pinking. We thought this could be...
