Obviously i know what all this is about and i'm guessing it comes back to those three letters i can't seem to stop hearing about.... UCH!? Does anyone know why people think you need it with the ecu what info is it supposed to supply to the ecu? I'm begining to think you can do without it like...
This is exactly what we have done! We've got a phase 1 engine with a cable throttle and without a uch. All we did was got the ecu decoded and it started first turn of the key!
So technically all you need is a phase 1 loom, and ecu (not necessarly off the same car) decode the ecu and you're away...
Looking stunning, we love seeing other peoples projects and this is really interesting! Silly question, is that our old front subframe being put to dam good use?
Right, I'm gonna dig the big book 'we don't read for fear of crying' out tonight and i'll forward the costs i've scribbled down in it to ya, Ben you can have it too if it'll make you Laugh bearing in mind it's a 500quid MOT failiure i'm working on LOL
Re: My mk1 track car blog
Wow, some how managed to miss this update, sounds like all things considered it was a bad weekend for project progress. Lol. I'm loving the bias valve too!!!
The costs ran away with me in no time at all to the point now where i'm removing unused parts i bought at the start because they're not up to the standard i'm now working to. We're planning to have the conversion looking factory and it takes a good amount of time with all the wireing to be...
We'd definatly be up for that! We've wanted the top of our valver dash flocked from the start of the project! We'd only want it straight black!
Please keep us informed and please post some pics if you can
What do you mean by proper harness bars? We're currently fitting a cage and are now looking at where to put the harness bar. Are you saying that based on the height of them? Sorry for the hijack, feel free to reply by pm to save the thead if you wish:o
Last week all went to plan, we darted out early to Coventry to pick up a set set of wheels for the project and they are stunning!
This week however, we've decided that the world is out to get us!
We disappeared off to dartford tunnel to pick up our latest purchase. Only problem is...
Re: My mk1 track car blog
Good continuity there, Sparco seats and cage I like it! My car does (did until we took it all apart again) sound like a nasty angry race car but my dad works as a marshal at bedford autodrome and when he came over to take a look round it i asked him if it would pass a...
Re: My mk1 track car blog
We do indeed have the weld in OMP 6 point cage and i't's a very professional looking cage which visually i'm really pleased with. However it's a nightmare to fit and make it look and feel like it's gonna do you any good, we're still working on it even now. Moo and i...
Re: My mk1 track car blog
Glad to see progress being made fella sounds like your definately getting through it! I know what you mean about the cost sheet it stacks up so so quick doesn't it. mine's fitted with a 2 1/4 inch exhaust and it sounds like a 2nd world war fighter plane so god knows...
Re: My mk1 track car blog
Good move fella! These conversions just seem to be getting easier and easier as people learn more tricks. Have you got it running yet, and how bigger diameter is the rest of your exhaust?
Cheers for the interest i'm struggling pretty badly for time with christmas at the moment and i'm doing my best to source a generator to run our newly purchased welder with as the one we've borrowed doesn't seem to be upto the job.
With christmas came a brand new BMC CDA, and a set of 16" tyres...

FRP stands for ford racing puma so i'm reckoning FRP'd means it's it's been fitted with the 155bhp 1.7 lump out of a racing puma. I used to own one and it wouldn't have stood a chance against a 172 or 182 in a straight line. They're around the same performance as a saxo VTS, they do handle...
Here we have a rear 'civic type r' engined nissan sunny, as you can see its quite a conversion, we've kept it as standard looking as we could for that sleeper look and we've even managed to keep the old rear seats
What do you boys think?
Mac man came round my work this week offering a tool that I thought was a pretty blinding deal. Basically its a fault code reader. It plugs into any diagnosic socket (16 pin) of any car 2001 onwards. It can read out the engine control unit fault codes and erase them turning off the engine light...
Thought i'd post up a link as the fella selling it is a workmate and friend of mine and the car is an absolute legend to tear around in. So i thought a bit of publicity won't hurt really.
