Humble apologies for my slacking we've been making progress in other ways recently we're now renting a lock up garage to work in and got ourselves a compressor, welder and hopefully a generator so we can finsh tidying up the loose ends on the cage front. More updates soon
As far as i can remember there's no adjustment on clio doors so you've most likely bent the hinges on the A post. Most decent bodyshops will have a pretty simple tool to put this right and won't charge youo more than a couple of hours to mend it for you.
Think he means there's 2x 17mm bolts holding a brace bar to the boot floor with the luguage hooks on it which you need to remove first but i'm guessing you've got that out.
Not gonna save a tonne of weight by whipping them out they're pretty lightweight seats:)
You only need to undo one of them (the black one i think) the other is actually spaced and the seat will slide out from under it. The problem you've encountered is the torx bolt in the boot floor pokes out under the car and the end of the thread gets corroded so it's a nightmare to undo. Lots...
As above. I need to know which redtop battery will be enough for my mk1 clio. Many of you know of it, Mk1, 172 engine, no elec windows, mirrors, no central locking or rear wiper, heated rear window, radio. So just the basics lamps, wiper, starter, heater, guages.
Any help gratefully recieved...
The rev counter isn't a wiring thing really, the problem is the 1.8 engine runs one coil that sparks 4 times per revolution, where as the 172 engine runs 2 coils which only spark twice each every revolution so when you use the signal wire you're rev counter will read half. I've found a rev...
Just a quick thought, there is a relay in the relay box that relay powers up the coil pack and fuel pump, this is switched on by the engine control unit authorised by the immobilizer, so check the relay and if thats ok chances are its immobilizer related
The pressure switch is on the front of...
Only a small progress report after today.
Got the looms all finished off today with the insulating, routing etc (I'm sick of the sight of clio wiring now!)
But this is what the engine plug looked like before today:
And after today the engine plug looked like this:
And with the fuse and...
Re: My mk1 track car blog
Good progress fella glad to see it coming along so well!!! You have my sympathy on the darkness issue I too am having that one, DAMN SEASON!!!!
They are indeed airccon pipes. On the fuel pump front your probably looking at an imobilizer code problem, you'll need the ignition barrel and the key from the donor car so the ecu gets the right code from it. Not sure about the other questions.
A big old pile of money needed for the roof lol, mine set me back a lot more but another could be made using the mould i have for under 600quid. Still an aweful lot though!!
We both really appreciate all the comments and support, makes it all seem worth while. Can't wait to put all the hard wok together to make a finished item instead of loads of individual peices. Hopefully make it to some shows next year to show some people!
James your well up my list of people i can't wait to take out in it when it's done, however might be a bit of a wait. Bet you'll want the old silver cup back once you've been out lol. Feel free to pop over any time this weekend you'll find us shivering in the garden.
Loving it fella, brilliant progress and what a cage! When you said your cage had taken a long while to arrive you neglected to mention it was the most full on cage you could've got lol.
Keep up the good work!!!
We've decided that we are going to have to brave the cold and the dark if we want to get this car done in any decent amount of time, so after a few weeks of not a lot of progress we've got back on the cars case.
First thing was, we needed to shorten the dash to accomodate the weld in roll cage...
Brilliant seeing yours up and running, just can't wait to get ours on the road, not too much to do before we can chase you about!
Sounds like yours and my car will look like twins after winter. LOL
ITS HERE!
This may look like a humble grey rectangle but if you look closely you'll see some carbon fibre weave!
The carbon fibre roof skin is here!
Many thanks to the brilliant services of Mervyn Griffiths at Streamline carbon. (www.streamlinecarbon.com) for making the mould, roof skin and...
It's a full roof panel, custom made for me (I do feel special lol). Gonna be a little while before I can get it in the workshop for the respray and to fit it as christmas etc seems to be robbing all my pennies:( :(
