Decat would make a differnce. Panel filter maybe a smidge. Decat with a standard exhaust will, i understand shorten its life (the exhaust i mean). Dont quote me on that though.
I got to agree with crono, the joint doesnt seem to have been particulary well engineered. Its obvious that the rubber in the joint will wear first causing slackness in the steering. Even a brand ne column will not be 100 % responsive due to the felxability of the rubber. I guess it was designed...
hmmmm, maybe in the 21st century (if you know what i mean)
*cough* Williams *cough*,
And i think yowl find (in a Birmingham accent) sports blue fow fow nine is cooooniserablaaay richer blue than yows
;)
About 270 fitted for a column. Bolt may weaken the shaft of the column, but the force taken on it is rotational, and not great so i would have thought it would be ok.
At the moment i am living in Norfolk. I used to live in Alconbury just by the section of road where the A1M passes over the village. There is a pub called the Mill which is next to my old house opposite a garage.
Get down where the pedals are. Get a screw driver and pull back the carpet surrounding the rubber gaiter that encloses the steering column (it dissapears into the footwell of the car behind the clutch pedal). Prize the ribber gaiter up from the floor of the car (its just held down by a rubber...
Nick hill did mine plus the altenator belt in 2.5 hours. And that was mostly taken up with getting rusty bolts off. Give him a ring if your anywhere near. Otherwise just ring round as prices seem to vary alot.
:(:(:(:(:(. Gutted. 56k. How old is the belt @ illusion? Riplash, get yours booked in asap pal.
And if your not sure id check it is the cam belt first, might be something else.
My friend has just gone from 106 GTi to cup and was blown away by the speed difference and braking difference. Not sure youd get blown away by the difference from a Valver to a cup, faster yes, but not blown away.
Ill put up cash for tailgate, steering column / rack (depending on age of car), gear knob, airbox, stick that hold open the bonnet and some other little bits,
Mine is a phase 1 willy 1.
lol, dont get me started on the GTI-R versus Williams debate again.:@. 5k isnt a bad price if your car is mint. Did the Williams come in green as i see so many mint williams. lol. Hope you dont have the soggy steering alot of williams suffer from? Have a good look at the suspension parts / tyres...
Ok this would be the plan (subject to someone having a better idea, which i am always open to)
Those who want a part from a williams put there name down for that part and pay for it. (these prices are just as an example) So:
Bloke a a wants a gearbox and engine - he pays £900
Bloke b wants...
Agree with 16v - 2.0. Replacing the OE parts with others can be counter productive on the Williams. Stick with originals. Renault did alot of develpoment work on the suspension and braking so you have to trust what they have done.
As for the column, i have come to the same conclusion as you...
Just a word of warning regarding the Williams. If you do test one make sure you test a good example. And i dont mean a shiney no rust one. Try one which has recently replaced suspension parts, new tyres, brakes etc. I own Williams 0002 and it has covered 18,000 miles. This car will stay with a...
Ok, ive been talking to loads of people and alot seems to have a less than perfect handling Williams.
Mine was VERY bad, now its getting there. I have had new front springs, front and rear shocks, track rod end, tyres, balancing and alignment. I have polysport bushes on order. Can everyone...
