gutted mate, really feel for you, my mate had some lads crash into his mint VR6 a year back with the same situation as yours, he never got any compensation from them, he had to claim on his own insurance. Even if you get them in court, you cant claim for damge4s, they will be done for driving...
right ben, that makes sense, just one last question, with the engine at TDC, the cams both at the correct setting for TDC also, will the valve lift=0? if this is the case, i just make sure the cambelt is on, crank is at TDC as are cams, tension the belt, loosen the Verniers, turn the cams until...
is it just on cold start up? if so its a lazy tappet and you need new lifters. if its constant, and you recently had a new top end(im assuming full rebuild uincluding new tappets?) then it may be becasue of the sharper profile on the cams, cant imagine a chip will sort it TBH tho!
got 4 already and 2 almosts, we are nearly there, spoke to andy today, even with the 4 defos we may be able to get teh same price, the more the merrier though! as for the tappety noise, i doubt a chip will sort this, sounds like you have worn tappets, as for it being worth it with the mods you...
^^^^^^^^^^^what he said, works under the same idea that A/C saps power, and the fact that Phase 2 RTs made 5bhp less then there non-pwer steering phase 1 brothers!
The super chip replaces a part in yor ECU, SMT6 piggybacks the curretn ECU, so in theory you could have the SMT6 modifying your already modified super chip!
RIght, got cams put in today, they set it all uo as normal, crank at TDC, cams at TDC etc, then we looked at the notes you gave me, im guessinng that we loosen the pulleys, then turn the camshaft until our dial gauge matches the figure that Kent have given me for lift at TDC? so in other words...
ok guys, upto 4 def so far, and ready to put deposits down, so one palce left at least, we wont go ahead until after teh bank holiday, that gives everyone enough time to see what they want to do, if we get more then 5 we may be looking at more discount. So far its me, MartinS, Paul.C 16v and...
looking at 700 from the place im takin my car, do a search on forum for the lad who had his whole car done for 700 quid, cant remember his user name tho, and it was in NW!
up to 3 def. so far, bare in mind all you need is 150 wuid deposit to guarentee the discount price, you can have the rest of the work done when you can afford it or whenever your car is ready for it!
so come on guys, will pm everyone who has shown interest int his as we will be needing a final answer soon adn of course a depsoit. 150 quid will reserve you the cheaper price and you can go ahead whenever you are ready! Lets get this done rather then just talking about it as per usual!
rockport, im pretty confident you will see gains, the hill power item is a noff the shelf chip, SMT6 is mapped to your car, taking into account your mods, engine age, mileage, use, fueletc. itsd mapped to over 100 points across the rev range, pretty impressive stuff!
if your young and insurance is gonna be a problem(willy is grp 17!) then it may be worth thinkiong about a 16v with 2L conversion? Usually faster then the willy in a straight line, cheaper to buy, and only grp 12 insurance!
normal price is 600, group buy price is 500. all this depends on appication and is maximum prices, if you have a standard car and just want it chipping and not set up to cams, headwork etc maybe it is cheaper. Once fitted you pay for RR time for future mods, for example an hour of RR time costs...
cant see it getting past mild tuning for me mate, certainly not T/Bs anyway so im dead set on the SMT6. Spoke to Andy and he says he cant give a defo price on stand alone engine managment but with group disucount your looking at around 1200 pounds, massivley depending on application though...
we probably wont be oing for the option of buying the Cgips ourselves as i dont see much of a saving to be had and gettign the correct chip may be difficult. All who are interested need to be able to put up a deposit of 150 pounds to secure their discounted price of 500 pounds ALL in...
GDI are very well respected company mate, best spekaing to them. Im looking to go ahead with this in about a month, but if people can get a 150 pound deposit sorted in the nest 2-3 weeks then im sure Andy will be able to fit you in whenever you want it doing.
Viceroy, it may be worth speaking...
There was a thread a few days ago about people who were interested in a group buy for SMT6 ECU re-mapping. If anyone is interested can you please put your name down here, you will need a deposit of 150 pounds and the whole system costs 600 pounds fitted/set up/RR time/VAT etc. IF we can get more...
^^^^^^^^^what he said, my old clio was on GAZ coilovers and scraping the floor at the front and think its fair to say that both Adi and myself could hold some pretty silly speeds through corners, very hard ride and not very practical BUT for throwing the car through corners its an incredible...
