Get a 172 exclusive like mine all full leather BBS alloys lighter and faster than the phase 2 172 i had. I think im the only person to have both and can defo say the phase 1 is noticably quicker. It looks better at the front however the phase 2 has the better rear. Phase 1 alloys are much better...

Trouble is its probably not the belt at fault the lower pulley that the belt runs on is sometimes a common problem mine went and caused a fair bit of damage so its worth getting that replaced if its the problem. I GOT MINE COVERED UNDER WARRENTY!

172/182 = :D no other hot hatch 2000 onwards gives more lb per £ the valver was pretty good bang for bucks ratio too.
