iam not suggesting anything to anybody. as paul said nothing is 100% safe but having said that iam quite happy to have welded my joint up and really did weld it not just spot welds iam confident that this will never cause me greif again. iam mentoning no names but a well reconised rally driver...
that joint is purely and only to take vibrations from the road wheels it may end up in your chest in a shunt but not for that reason of welding it up looking at the picture only weld the peice marked packed rubber here and movement here.
we are all entitled to our own opinions but id rather scrap my car than take it to bb i asked for a 35 m drop at the rear, i quote "yeah thats 1 click mate" so i go to drive it of the ramp and it wont go more like 80 mm. but hey they could of got that wrong. then when i wanted my cams timmened...
the section we are talking about is not designed to collapse its up the colum if you have had the colum out you will see welding or srewing will not affect the collapseble section at all
weld it up mate dun mine not so long ago its perfect i had nearly 6 mm travel on wheel before the wheels moved all sorted now tho. its a b**ch to get out well its not too bad check the lenght on it to make sure its not been compressed in a shunt. only downside is tiny bit of wobbley at 85 mph...
