100 miles after 'chipping' the clutch is slipping!
floor it at 2000 rpm, revs to 2400ish and back to 2200 before flying (V6 levels of 170lb/ft+ Max torque at 2300)
Still OK most of time, but does it even on a sudden 2/3rd throttle
Do I?
A) get it un-chipped?
B) get it adjusted...
keep it subtle - 16s or 17s and a 40mm drop
also a little bit on 172/182 detail - Reno OE leather gear knob, Reno Sport sill strips!
Silvervision indicator lenses
silver door badges
I had probs. like this in year one - 3 times - new ECU under warranty fixed it!
then i comlained to reno HQ for shite service and got £150 in vouchers for the hassle - it meant only £8 for me 18K service.
Insurance?
1) add your Mum on the insurance (and dont let her drive it!) - older women are much lower risk - it should work - try it!
2) shop around - like 20 quotes -
the f**king Rattles
^ ^ love it - very profound
sunroof and suspension rattles, but hey....
.......there aint nothin' else that'll do a sub 10sec 0-60 (chipped) and 70mpg for 10K!
handling, performance (even pre-chip), economy
oh and it's NOT a Corsa - SRi maybe, but........
..... I had a poverty-spec Corsa as a loan-car whilst mine was in garage - nealry rolled the fuc*er cos I bowled into a sharp left hander off a dual carriageway at 40mph (as i do in the Clio) -...
it was based on generic, but 3500 to redline @ 5000 revised (based on experience of other dCi's with performance air filters)
Rolling road was another £50, but they did road-test it.
The've done 100's of 'em and unless a car is 'new' or has serious mods, they don't dyno since 90% of cases...
just had the dCi chipped, they even tuned the top end for the K&N............
standard 85bhp, 140lb/ft
chipped 110bhp, 172lb/ft
I was a bit sceptical of the whole 'chipping thing' so I put it against the stop watch last week and again this morning! (exactly same place, much worse...
Good luck.
Defo deal with Reno UK - firm but polit and start a log of ALL phonecalls, visits etc. and get ALL names so you've got a detialed dated timeline.
I had sh*t service from Camden in Aylesbury and when it was eventually sorted I sent a nice letter to Reno UK saying that if I were...
......... keep the Clio
the extra 15bhp is more than cancelled out by the extra 100kg ish
Call me a sceptic, but I'd be VERY surprised if a MUCH heavier car will perform better or have improved economy
I've got 4 tickets - just need 3 teenage girls with nice cleavages and baseball caps to ride in my 'chavmobile' ........
as my mate with a Saab convertible calls it ...... But then he must be gay with a car like that!
No!
keep the Clio.
If you're determined, get an Ibiza FR PD130 - new model has same engine, similar spec as Fabia and 17's as standard (also not yuk yuk 5 door like Fabia)
AND chippable to 170bhp, 300 lb/ft +
^ that's what I'd buy if I'd got cash now
Go for it..........
I've driven tons of different cars - even an S2000 and a Scooby felt decidely 'ordinary' after the kick in the back from a rear-engined Clio V6!
VIN - bonnet shut (above grille) or probably little flap on inside of sill under/close to drivers seat.
If their ain't one, you got probs - you need to sort out with DVLA
P.S: Hi!
