Yeah, theres definitely truth in the K&N slowing the car down! I experienced that on my old 1.2 and it was because it sat as an open filter on top of the engine - just the right place to draw in hot air!! Itll be the same with any open air kit.
Its a pretty cool advert - very sort of jazz/blues/smokey/gruff voice/not too flash but cool advert. Creates the right sort of impression for young urban trendies.
Incidentally, it seems quite a long way away from the "classless but classy"/for all the family Nicole & Papa adverts; seems to...
Isnt it funny that the rust always comes up on the drivers side arch first?
My O/S/R Willy arch has been replaced at some stage, but the rust has just started to come back. When I bought it a few months ago it was almost invisible and I hoped it wasnt going to come up at all. Sadly, the...
My Willaiams (56,000 miles) has a pair of original Michelin Pilot HX tyres on the rear wheels. Theyve still got about 2mm of tread too! The fronts are the same tyres, but are newer.
A light little car like the Willy will be easy on rear tyres. :D
Like people have already said, 195/50 gives you a wider choice of tyres at a lower price. I went for that size on my Valver.
Having said that, Ive got some antique 185/55 Michelin Pilots on the Willy at the moment and I really like them! I cant tell how much is to do with the fatc that the...
If its the oil temp sensor then I doubt itll be for sale anywhere than Renault.
Just as a cautious reference for you, a 16V/Willy oil pressure sensor costs £56!!!!!!!!!!
Just been sorting through my room and piles of stuff left over from when I was a teenager. I always remember loving the Valver and Willy back in the day, but to my surprise I just found a whole box full of 16V and Williams brouchures, adverts, articles and pictures cut from magazines!
Am dead...
A good standard 16V wont be embarassed by a 172. You know those kind of races you may have had where the other car isnt quite as fast, but youll never lose it - well thats how a Valver will be to a 172 (incidentally, thats about the difference there is between a Valver and a Willy).
A year...
There are a few Phase3 Mk1 Clios registered on an N-plate (must be very late).
There are also some early Phase1 Mk1 cars on H-plates, usually in a disgusting copper gold colour!
Waste of time unless you need to adjust the baseline fuel pressure (erm, not certain of the terminology - wheres BenR when you need him?!). Had one on my old Valver, but that was due to uprated cams.
So what is the ATW figure? You cant measure the at the fly figure without taking the engine out and putting it on a much rarer engine dyno. Not saying that your Willy wasnt making in the region of that figure, but it would have certainly have come from an ATW figure and been multiplied to make...
Its not uncommon to see at least 140bhp at the wheels for the Williams and I think most make more at the fly than the quoted 150bhp (as do a lot of 16Vs). Id be more inclined to quote the ATW power figure, as its always a guess in calculating an at the fly figure.
Id reckon that if it was totally, totally mint and original you could get away with asking just under £3k for it.
But to be competitive in the Cliosport "for sale" section, it would have to be around the £2k mark.
I recently sold my pristine 16V (leather, tuned etc) for £2700. Id...
If you take the cat off the car, remember to keep it for the MoT - 16Vs and Willys may pass without, but its unlikely. It would also be a bit mean to sell your car on without the cat as new ones cost a lot!
However, unless the cat is pretty unusued, Id say youd not get much more than £50 for it.
Right, now this may sound a bit drastic, but read on! :D
Id start by buying a crap car for £250 - you know the sort that will be worth just the same in about 6 months.
Then, Id begin the job in earnest. To be honest, Im really envious of you having a silver 16V - its the perfect base...
Just spotted this on the Evo forum - made me chuckle (and never want to take my Williams near Renault!). Ive lifted the quote totally from the forum, but I think thats fair as other threads link over to here and to some of my posts!
"The first batch of williams came out when I was working...
