Battery back on car. Lock the doors with the dash button then exit the car through the passenger door. Lock passenger door with the key and then remove battery. This will not arm the alarm.
Re: Diesel in a 182
Nobody will get wind of anything, I'm not on a witch hunt towards the garage - hence I haven't named them.
I fully appreciate that getting the filling station to admit liability will be very difficult, but then to be honest this isn't the kind of thing that you would just...
Re: Diesel in a 182
Am pretty confident no permanent damage will have been done, I'm more interested in getting her running right again than worrying about the garage to be honest.
Will definitely be an interesting chat when the manager phones me back though.
Re: Diesel in a 182
The garage will remain nameless until I see what they have to say about the issue.
Needless to say, it's a large chain and not a supermarket garage.
They have since taken the pump 'offline' so to speak.
That's very close to what the RAC chap said, a dose of redex...
Re: Diesel in a 182
Cheers Mike ;)
No, thankfully I am not daft enough to put diesel in my 182, the unleaded I filled up with on Saturday however was contaminated with diesel it seems. Car ran fine, not a murmur until it got right down to the last bit left in the tank.
Diesel 'floats'...
Re: Diesel in a 182
Haven't got a decat, but tbh I'm not too worried about that. If the cat is the only thing to die then I think I'll have got away lightly - needless to say the garage will be paying!
Tom - there was about £5 of 'contaminated fuel' left in when the problems arose, she now...
A few of you will be aware of this, but without going into too much detail on here what are the likely implications?
We're not talking £20 worth of oil burner, but potentially contaminated unleaded fuel.
Car is running 'ok' at the moment but has kicked loads of black smoke out the exhaust...
Last night, about 6pm towards the carpark formerly known as the M60.
You were behind me for ages ;)
Cup has white wheels and you have a CS Sticker in the rear window.
They'll fit but the electric window switches will need some alterations as I think the wiring is different.
Oh and where the door cards meet the dash is a different profile too.
Some coilovers have a different width meaning they wouldn't fit the non-cup hub anyway. I'm not saying this is the case, but it has been known.
If I remember correctly 182 hubs are slightly wider than a regular 182's.
It would be easier/safer to change the hubs.
1, Yes they'll fail. Get some standard ones fitted, even if you swap them back afterwards.
2, Should be ok - providing the car isn't too low that it wont get on their ramp/lift!
3, Will be fine, advisory at worst.
To change the ballast you will have to remove the headlight from the car.
The ballast is screwed to the base of the headlamp, I forget exactly but I'm pretty sure it's just two screws and then plug and play.
Oh and for those that mentioned it, a complete 182 exhaust including CAT for a 182...
I was with AOL for years, admittedly their customer care was beyond belief but thankfully I had very few problems.
Can't really help on the OFCOM issues but from my experience with OTELO they probably wont do a great deal at this stage.
