Hang on a moment Nick! I ride to defend the honour of the Valver!
170bhp the ST170 may have - but a Valver beater it certainly is not! I would call it parity at the very least. The 106 GTi/VTS/16v brigade have accleration figures that are a bit better than the Focus - and theyre all of the...
Sorry for indirectly slating you car!
It looks a lot better when you can see the interior and wheels. Id get some wheel spacers to fill out those front arches - theyll wreck the suspension bits in no time, but it will look sooooo good.
If it all happened at the same time, then I suspect the solenoid or a fuse (both in the passenger fusebox, under the glovebox).
It could also be that the washer pumps have gone and that the rear wiper motor is stuffed. That would be bad luck, but remember...it is a Renault!
I dont think its much of a problem if you go -30/40mm, as is usual on a car with struts at the back (e.g. Clio 2), but with torsion bar cars like Clio 1 and the Saxo people often go a lot lower - hence the need to adjust the load-sensitive thingy.

Sh!t mate! I guess Im just really lucky. Fast car, 22 years old and a clean license (touch wood) - guess thats what comes of not driving that often and living in Wales most of the time!
Im assuming youve got a Mk1 Clio with two torsion bars at the rear - and not one with a load-sensitive rear brake valve (on models with rear discs - i.e. 1.8 Bacarra, RSi, 16v and Williams) or wide arches (16v and Willy). In this case, you can go pretty much as low as you like. Youll need to...
Can you get any more detailed figures, or is it just 0-60 and bhp that are available? 0-60 is still a good measure, but Id want to see in-gear figures and gear ratios. If for example it only does 59mph in 2nd, then the 0-60 will not refelct accurately how good it is. The Willy and 16v both...
Got pulled over for speeding on my mountain bike a few years ago!:o
I was bombing down a hill without a care when suddenly a Police motorcyclist came from nowhere and shouted over to me to pull over! He said I was doing 38mph in a 30 area and gave me a huge telling off!
I was going to say that! I think its commonly referred to as "heel & toe". Its never worked for me as the pedals in a Renault are sloped; the idea being that you cant hit one by accident when using the other!

I used a fully synthetic Comma 5w/50 a few oil changes ago - never again!
It kept a good pressure on idle (1 - 1.5 bar as opposed to 0.5 bar with 10w/40 semi synthetic), but for some reason the temperature was way too high! With 10w/40 s-s, the oil temp stays at about 100degC - but with...

I think Primas Maxi kit is about £1300 for the panels alone. Ive heard Nickg123 from this very forum can get similar ones for c.£550.
Budget on £2k to have it fitted properly and sprayed well, then a bit more for wheels, spacers etc.
Dont want to pee on your fire Dave, but I doubt that a 16v will do 145mph. Mat Browns is probably the most powerful and fastest 16v/Willy there is and he got 132mph on proper testing equipment. The 17s will add only a tiny, tiny fraction in terms of top speed, if at all. Even a Clio 3.0 V6...

Oil viscoscity makes a lot of difference. When I first got my 16v, I used 5w/50 oil - that made the oil pressure settle at about 1.5 bar at idle and made the oil temperature much higher than normal (settled at about 120degC). Now, in my enlightened state, I use 10w/40 - the pressure at idle is...
If you want more than the pace of the ST170, save yourself up to £6k and get a Clio Cup, VTS or 106 GTi. All are tried and tested favourites with hot hatch fans and are lighter on the wallet. I like the idea of a hot Focus, but Im afraid that Ive yet to see a positive review of the ST170...
