I think the performance per pound debate would be a toss-up between the GT Turbo, 205 1.9 GTi and Clio 16v for me. No doubt in my mind that the 16v is the most handsome and comfortable car of these three. Its not the most easy to work on, costs a lot of money to maintain properly and often...
The Clio Williams is closely based on the 16v, so theres not much more to check apart from the authenticity of the car itself (someone else will have to detail what to look for there.
Overall, Im of the opinion that Williams owners are of the demographic that look after their cars well...

Im not saying the RSi is slow - my mate has one. Mines not a standard Valver, so it wouldnt be fair to compare. But my mate has a bog standard 16v and when he raced the RSi it wasnt a close one. In other words, he toasted it - as would be expected by looking at the figures in my last post...

The 1991-1997 RSi was, as far as I know, a variant of the 95bhp 1.8 (1783cc, then 1794cc) F3P engine. My Renault sources quote this engine, which was also found in the early 1.8 RT and 1.8 Baccara (luxury model), as having 95bhp @ 5700rpm and 105lb/ft of torque @ 2800rpm. However, Ive also...

Erm...I dont think so!
Youre not just talking about another 30bhp in a car that weighs the same, youve also got wider tracks, superior cooling, better breathing and a four-bar torsion set-up at the rear (two-bar on the non-wide arch Clios).
The RSi is a good motor, but its basically a...

I had my flat in Bristol broken into last February.
The scum took loads of stuff (laptop, camera, mobile etc) including my car keys, spare car keys, stereo fascia and any obvious paperwork for the car!
To my relief, they couldnt find the car, as at the time I parked it at a lock-up about...

So there we have it!
The Willy is the fastest of them all! Pulls ahead of the 172 in 3rd gear!
In turn, the 172 pulls well ahead of the VTS in 2nd. Meanwhile, the VTS had the legs on the Clio 16v - though by the looks of things, Adi fluffed the change from 1st to 2nd (any vids of a clean...
Hang on a moment Nick! I ride to defend the honour of the Valver!
170bhp the ST170 may have - but a Valver beater it certainly is not! I would call it parity at the very least. The 106 GTi/VTS/16v brigade have accleration figures that are a bit better than the Focus - and theyre all of the...
