Lofty fitted 19 16v leathers to his Clio 16v. The front seats on Williams and leather option 16vs are also re-trimmed 19 16v ones, so the fronts arent a problem.
The rears are more hassle - speak to Lofty.
Nah, nah, nah...youve it all wrong boys! What you really need to do is fit a Nova engine!
I know they only make 200bhp as standard, but with a Big Bore 4 and a K&N who knows where the power gains stop - Skylines tremble in their presence! (Erm...maybe thats due to the deafening bass their...
There are indeed four available. But...
The first two are for cars produced from about winter 1990 to summer 1991 - in both 70w and 110w output (the latter for cars with air con). If you were sharp, youd know that the Clio 16v didnt come to the UK until late 1991 and it never came with air...

My main advice would be to think carefully about the rear. I lowered my old 1.2 on big wheels and it tore chunks out of the rear arch lips. So make sure if you go low on the rear that you choose big wheels with a different offset to normal. Dont think its really a problem on 15s, but it...

Oh dear! If you dont mind my saying, I think 140bhp is a lot for some headwork, cams and chip on a NA 1.8 8v engine that makes 110bhp as standard. But then 113bhp is less than Id expect!
My initial guess would be that the first set of figures were based on an "at the flywheel estimate" (derived from an at the roadwheels measure, with tranmission loss calculated) and the second just an "at the roadwheels" measurement.
Some places also do engine dynos, though I understand that...
Same with me: I used to use WD40 to shut it up, then I just changed the belt and voila! No more sqeaking!
Not the simplest of jobs though. Haynes say to do it by undoing the adjuster pulley - I did it by taking off the alternator.
Its usually due to a piece of grit or something similar. Most cars Iknow develop a squeak at some stage for a while, then it disappears.
Wet weather is good to get rid of squeaks. I was a cycle mechanic and if people came to me with squeaky bike brake discs, Id send them to a wet place and...
VTS/106 GTi are a very fine match for the 16v. Off the mark will be similar - getting ahead will depend on timing and technique.
The 16v will be better at higher speeds and overtaking though.
Handling would be hard to call. The 106/VTS are very sharp, but likely to "snap" suddenly...

It looks like a tuning houses own body kit rather than an official Renault effort to me. You can see the stand of Projectzwo in the background - they do body kits for VWs.

I havent got any pics, but it was the Group A rally car that Renault used - first with the 1.8 16v engine, then the 2.0 Willy engine (obviously in a high state of tune!). It had massive wide arches and looked simply stunning.
...So which cars are going to be behind your gold-plated garage doors?
As for me, it has to be:
Clio 16v, Clio Williams, Maxi-Clio 16v, Clio V6, Clio 172, Clio Cup (see, this topic is Clio-related!), GT Turbo, Turbo 2, Austin-Healey Sprite, 205 GTi 1.9, Golf GTi Mk1, Lotus Elise, Audi...
My old 1.2s speedo needle swayed wildly all the way up to 80mph, when it moved so slowly up the clock that the sway lost momentum!!
Anyway, that started at about 10k and was with me until I sold it at 66k. So it must have been the cable.
My 16v does it too a little now. Started after I...

I looked into this when I had my old 1.2. Anything is possible - but it costs. Lots! Top Gear last night showed a Lada being done up by Lotus for £100k!
Sadly, it will not be a matter of taking it out and put another one in. Even the Energy 1.2 and 1.4 cars have different auxillary parts...
I heard that the 220 Turbo was quicker over the 1/4 mile than an Escort Cosworth (but not 0-60 on account of it not having 4WD).
Id imagine that it was probably a 220 Turbo you had a play with as the NA 220 is a 130bhp T-Series 2.0, which does 0-60 in about 9 secs - not 16v or 172 territory!
