Windows could be due to switches - a common problem. Regular switches cost £25 and the one touch ones something ridiculous like £75!!
Heater matrix is another common problem: about £130 to fix.
Isnt there a 1.8 8v lump from a 1.8 RT for sale in the For Sale section? Its a low-tune 95bhp variant, but has decent torque (105lb/ft) at low revs. Could make a nice, relaxing car.

All original shape Clios, apart from the wide body 16v/Williams, have the same body panels. 16v/Willy get flared arches.
RSi and Bacarra get side skirts, 16v/Willy dont have side skirts.
Phil - I did the oil on my 16v the other day. Best thing to do is remove the grille: really improves access to the filter.
As for the 172, when you put a new filter on, just hand tighten it so you dont need to use a tool next time. Makes life a lot easier.
The warm hatch of the original Clio range was the RSi: its a 1.8 8v pushing 110bhp and with all the creature comforts. Distinguished by side skirts. Also came in luxury Bacarra trim (95bhp).
The full-on hot hatch was the 16v: 137bhp and a wide-arch body, complete with bonnet bulge/air dam...

Busted Craggy!
Its a very late catalyst-fitted 205 1.9 GTi isnt it?!!
Very nice if so - what metallic did you get?
Sublime handling: like a cruder, raw version of the 16v/Willy.
But if it isnt...:p
Used to have them on my old 16" wheels. They were OK for standing water and grip was OK, but they seemed to be far less sticky than say Yokohamas or Potenzas. They also have a very square profile, so major lowering could be a problem.
I changed the oil and filter the other day on my beloved 16v. Dont know what all the fuss is all about - seemed pretty straightforward to me. Top tip - remove the front grille to improve access to the filter.
Anyway, while under the car I noticed a little trickle of oil from my gearbox...
Youll love a bona fide Valver. I still dont think that there has been a better looking hot hatch yet (the illustrious Delta Integrale came before it!). Fortunately, its not all show and no go - although they do seem to vary more than is usual in terms of power output. Some are unbelieveably...

Fair comment. Remember that the 172 is also a fair bit cheaper than many other so-called performance cars and will give them hell too.
There may be £3-5k between a VTS and a 172 (and much more between a new 172 and an older 205 GTi/16v etc). But theres still a good amount of dosh between a...

Why is it that we get so many Saxo people on these boards? Where are the Golf, SEAT, GT Turbo people? Or is that they are just happy to keep their "victories" to themselves and their friends - and dont stir up a wasps nest like this?
