I could be wrong and I will try and find the other thread on this, but I think the water temp sensor located under/ behind the airbox can cause this problem as well.

You can measure the hub to damper spacing as well to check if it has cup pack suspension or not. 54mm is non-cup and 60mm is cup spec suspension. I'm mixed about the strips, Like them on some and not on others. You planning on doing much to it?

I'm guessing the light on the dash flicks on and then flicks off as the switch goes back to it's central position? Unlike if you try it in cruise control the light stays on?
