Depends if you prefer the look of the facelifted Clio over the current model?
The new Clio (well the pics of the GT) look good - However the current 197 looks good too.
If it was me I'd hold fire and buy a facelifted version, if you don't like how it looks (I've yet to see any facelifted...
Also the roof decal is made up from a lot of separate stickers, so probably a nightmare to stick on. I'm glad I only specced the bumper stickers when I ordered my R27 - In my opinion Renault went OTT on the decals.
Yep, I think that car is definitely worth a punt. Tell your mate to go for it.
Although this takes the piss: "All vehicles purchased are subject to a £50 admin fee."
I know I'd choose a car with 9000 miles on the clock over a car with 40,000 miles on the clock. He's bought a nice car and an excellent step up from a 1.2.
Would've asked for the belts to be changed as part of the deal though.
I quite like. Although I am still not sure on the Renault's new style of headlamps for the Laguna and Megane. The Laguna coupe tv advertisement makes me laugh, as it seems the ad company purposely avoided giving any time to the front of the new coupe.

The only thing I would say about the early 197s that goes against them is the steering and suspension set up, especially the steering being a little vague, with not much feedback. Cup packed 197s are much nicer to drive - although finding one for 8 grand may be difficult.
The MPG on my re-flashed R27 is now around 23.4 miles. :( This has to be the worst car for fuel economy that I've ever driven let alone owned.
Thank christ the price of fuel has dropped.
Sorry to hear about this. When I moved to another department at work, it meant me parking my R27 in a different car park. Six months parking in the old car and not one mark on it. Within one week of me parking in the new car park: Nearside front wing scratched where some baby chav had leant...
"PS I've not been around much... so, err, what's with the R27 on your profile? What happened to the Vee with nice seats??" - Not me mate I used to own a 182 Cup and that had not so nice seats. ;)
Ian182 - the steering on the R27 and Cup packed 197s is spot on, a helluva lot better than the...
