loosing 5+ yrs NCB seems abit harsh. Sure if you claimed it would be 3yrs NCB. Do you have protected NCB??
As said before better off not going through insurance if you can afford it, if you get no joy from the insurance company.
hope you get it sorted out.
Is it the washer ball leaking and not just the washer bottle??
Ive had 2 new bottles fitted in 12 months (common fault with 172) and 2 new washer balls. ( 1 each side).
either way all was covered under warrenty.
Just got my renault mag. Theyve bought out a cup version 182. available in blue and inferno (orange).
basically same as what they done with the 172 cup.
If your looking for a 172 in the norwich area DONT buy Y401PBJ it was my old Mk1 172 and I stacked it big style. last time I heard it was...
Ive just insured my 03 plate 172 with directline. 26yr old, live out in the sticks. 4yrs NCB £620 Fully Comp £700 Protected. No points (yet)
1 claim in 2003 (wrote off my mk1 172)

I use mine a fair bit. Do all my driving mainly early am or fairly late evening.
Cant see what can cause it to leak as theres nothing else in that area.
I wrote off my Mk1 172 last July.
Y reg (french import) on 30k miles. Took their first offer at £9k if I remember correctly. (oh it also developed the 4k rattle the week I crashed, maybe I got extra for that?!?)
I would personally try for a bit more.
Good luck
No arguement at all. Just said I take its covered by warrenty,as the last 1 was. Car is just turned 1yr old. They just said yes no problem well give you a call when its in. Think the balls go for approx £5 IIRC.
happened to mine a few months back. took it to renault to check and they changed a faulty bonnet switch.
Went to pick it up and it went off again. They plugged it into their fancy pc and monitored it. In the end it went off on the hour every hour!! apparently it does a scan of the sensors...
booked my 172 in for its 12k service for monday. £170 was quoted £185 to start with until I played off 2 different dealers.
Seems to vary from £130 - £180ish depending where you are.
I was told they charge more because their dealership is in a bigger town and the other one is out in the sticks!!
I dont care as long as its kept in warrenty.
He soon dropped the price when I said Id go else where.
Just booked my 172 in for its first service (12k)
First price I was quoted was £184.82p!! phoned my other local garage and got quoted £175. slight difference me thinks.
So I phoned up the first garage, who I got the car from as new. And hes doing it for £175 plus Ive got a £5 off voucher...
My 172 does it if either you open the door to quickly after unlocking the car. Or the normal reason is the door or boot isnt shut fully.
May be a dodgy door pin switch???
Hope you get it sorted.
Its the plug under the seat. but not sure about wether it affects the airbag deployment.
i know of a couple that have had these problems. 1 had the plug changed under warrenty.
Hope you get it sorted
Im also with them and hopefully nearing the end of my claim. Only been going since last August!!
HIC isnt the problem, its Highway. Thats who your insured with and their mailto:cr@p">cr@p
As soon as i get my 3 yrs NCB back Im off to a decent company if theres such a thing.
