Well, I see where the fork rests on the White nubbin inside the clutch housing.
I suppose there is potential for friction or gaunching there if not lubed correctly.
The manual refers to molykote stuff for that, I can't find it anywhere, any alter atives?

So car went into dealers again after i voiced my complaints....
4 hours later I was asked back to get the car and advised that there was nothing wrong with it that they could see, they even put it on the computer etc (yay. free diagnositc of sorts)
No charge of course
Drove it home...
Well, I agree with Stu, there was a bit of tomfoolery to get the airbox back in after taking it out.
Was yours a 172 or 82?
Not that there is much difference im sure

Hole on the bottom has a pipe that goes under the box and ends just left of the passenger headlight, you can see the hole there.
The hold on the right of the box goes way down behind the bumper on the passenger side to the choker, sorry, to the "acoustic valve"
hope that helps

WTF man?
Whats your problem?
I didnt ask at all about changing flipping pulleys or other maintenance steps did I? Is that the hard part of the engine timing procedure, Really?
Yes I do know what I am doing, very much...........BUT STILL, I dont have the balls to touch this.
The...
Aye, but if you follow the guide at setting the cams just before tdc and rotating the engine, you should be alright.
That should be the first port of call if you suspect the timing is out, to recheck the crank pin location.
Im more interested in the timing steps.....replacing and cleaning...
So, i have my oen thread open where i have raised concerns over a Renault MAIN dealership having set my timing incorrectly.
if you havent done one of these before, i wouldnt start now.
Thats a great guide posted by the way, how on earth did i miss that one....doh!
Anyway, i just wanted to...
Balls....
Took it for a "spirited drive" this evening and i just dont know.
It sounds like a bag of piss when revving and really doesnt seem that keen to get to the limiter....
From what I can remember, these engines go ballistic and headbutt it is quick as you can say "fuuu....!"
Could...
Ahhh...
Detent
To resist movement (or when creating incremental steps), methods are employed which include a spring-loaded ball bearing that locates in small incremental depressions, or a piece of spring steel that snaps into position on flat surfaces or shallow notches milled into the shaft...
Got a replacement for mine, its a speedo drive model but thats no problem
I just want to give it an overhaul myself
I did this on my civic, replaced all of the bearings and left all of the gears/shafts etc intact. I didnt want to start splitting all that stuff.
Started into it yesterday...
Could you actually feel those dips when you were driving James?
Did you have any other symptoms?
See my car idles and goes well once im on it......I can just feel hesitations in the lower regions when i expected (and think i remember) big lumps of torque
Jj
Yeah, that must be it :dapprove:
Nonsense.
By proper diagnostics I think Danny means the actual Renault clip system, not an aftermarket one.
i.e. >>>>>>Go to Reno

I would firstly try and naffle a condensor from one of the multitude of cars being broken here
And cleaning the crank sensor is a piece of pee.......pretty much between the airbox and the engine.....its down at the gearbox and is on a wee bracket that looks like a frown.
Think its 2 10mm...
