Ive been to this a few times before- great stalls and lots of them, and quite a few of the major manufacturers in attendance with their top models
A bit of racing up the hill, access to some of the buildings, bit pricey on the food and drink front though
Came home with a multi folding aluminium...
Paintwork on my Iceberg 2000 Clio 172 is pretty grim, so covered some of it up with a full decal set, (Blue) but theres still a lot of thin paint showing.
I have the belts et al to do mid 2018, but also thinking of plastidipping the car.
Wanted to use a colour that's pretty rare or even unused...
So- having done a few full track days, and quite a few track sessions over the last couple years- whats the next step if you fancy racing someone, rather than getting black flagged for doing it on a track day?
Maybe purchasing a Race ready vehicle (Clio of course) and then deciding hill climbs...
Got a set of TOYO T1Rs for daily road use primarily, (Cheap) then if it gets too wet on track when I'm using the Yoko AD08r's on the track (Which don't wear well, but are really grippy) I would then put them on .
Ive used the T1Rs for about 3 months and they seem OK in the dry, (Wouldnt want to...
Realise there is stacks on this issue, as 1*2's or known for it
Point is: on my Y reg 172 having just approaching 92k miles, is its never been noticeable before. In fact i was chuffed at how smooth it was and put it down to my care of it with additives and general maintenance (LOL)
So, always...
Hi All- I am looking to organise this meet fro Cliosport members down on Brighton sunny seafront, primary organiser is ACE Café
Believe you can get a car Club stand, (Have done that a couple times in the past) by prior arrangement. If the weather is good it will be great, and if the weather is...
Not sure where to post this, so Mods feel free to move
Had more tyre wear than expected on a track day recently, so searched the web and found a Half price wheel alignment offer. National Tyres and Autocare in Hassocks, West sussex. Printed of my voucher from their website, went over there...
Have taken my 172 around a few tracks over the summer, and fitted decent Corbeau seats, then fitted a 3 inch webbed unbranded 6 point harness.
The harness seems fine safety wise, and keeps you well planted in the set.
Only problem I have is trying to get all the clips into the holder, when the...
Got hold of some 15 inch 6.5j FOX Black satin wheels off ebay advertised as 4 x 100 PCD, Centre bore a bit bigger than the Clio 172 but got some spigot rings, then tried offering them up today, and they didnt fit? He did say they came from his Mk 1 Ford Focus but as all the dimensions seemed...
My belts are due next year, so probably go the whole hog on my year 2000 phase 1 (88kmiles) and get the dephaser n water pump done too
So what performance mods can you do, which will save a tidy sum , when done at the same time?
I am more of a tinkerer than an all out, head on dismantle and...
Just got a pair of Corbeau seats. 1 will definitely need a subframe as only comes with side mounts.
The other came with runners (Corbeau Clubsport) , so i thought maybe i could fit without a subframe
Having removed the passenger seat, it looks like if it wasnt for the running gear on the door...
Had a great Hour and 20 mins last Sunday on the track at the French Car show at Donnington (Was red flagged 10 mins before session end and i didnt bother waiting to see if there was a restart)
I fitted AD08r's late March 2017, and pretty much been used as a road tyre since then, the plan is...
My next upgrade on my 172 is to fit a decent bucket seat. After admiring the Corbeau seats at the BHP show at Lydden Hill in May, I arranged to go down and see their range of seats at the Hastings premises. Dan was my advisor after giving him a call the day before, and was really helpful and...
Always fancied learning a bit more about car control, so a skid pan experience seems a way forward (After i spun out at Brands recently- wet i may add)
Anyone done one, and what does it entail?
See that most have a full car of learners, or at least a passenger, then not sure if the driving takes...
Anyone going to this, or been before and can say what its like?
Just had an email popped in my inbox about it, and even though I am Donnington for FCS couple weeks later, still might pop up with the Mrs and go have a look. (300 mile round trip)
Does track time sessions too, so may have a couple...
Just thought I would post up piccies of my bolt in rear half cage, that I got 6 x 6 inch plates welded in the strengthen the fixing location.
Just 4 positions- over the rear wheel arch x 2 and behind seats in footwell
Mark did a great job, decent price, and piccies tell the story. Anyone...

Just removed my rear seats on my Phase 1 172, , and realise that the spare full size wheel isnt secured
There is a 4 inch bolt rising upwards centrally with a thread - anyone know what the thread size is so i can get a nut to fit?
Also- how do spares get secured? (Phot helpful)
I have a...
Testing the water here, with the meet season soon upon us
A few members local to Sussex have posted up in a Sussex members thread, http://www.cliosport.net/threads/up-to-date-sussex-list.801920/ so thought why not organise a meet for couple hours, swap stories on mods and repairs. Have a...
Any recommendations- believe soft soles are the best, to gauge how well the car is doing
Not paying loadsa money for softened up trainers- so any advice
Dont fancy looking like a Lewis in his diddy boots either....
Feel free to educate me on this one:
I know that most aftermarket bushes such as Powerflex, are to stiffen up the suspension and handling, and to stop the car rolling around so much, making it feel less like a rubber Duck on the North sea.
Having inspected my Dog bone, can see the polybushes...
Accelerating the car quite hard up a hill, a clunk noise followed by a tinkling of something rolling along the road, and i pulled over as car didnt seem right.
I walked the road and found a long bolt about 7cms long on the road. Not sure if i went over it, or it came off the car.
The car doesnt...
Had touble with me throttle cable to start after buying the 172 (It snapped) then the new one was too tight, and had to sort that.
Then decided it was throttle body as engine was oscillating in revs quite severely (Cant see how a sticky cable would make engine revs go up and down) so bought a...
Any of you with a cable operated throttle body on a clio 172 will know that when it starts sticking, or yo yoing, its a PITA.
So, having changed the throttle cable albeit aftermarket, and noticing the revs went both up and down, so prob not a sticky throttle cable, the throttle body was...
My Clio ph1 overhaul after purchasing in October 2016 going pretty well. Lots done, with the throttle body issue being most stubborn. Almost there with that hopefully. All decaled up in 172 blue stickers too.
Gearbox oil, checkout/adjust the coilover suspension and height, only got 20mm...
Approaching traffic lights, braking, take out of gear at about 10mph, and the revs drop to 1000, then up to 2000, (Sometimes 2500 eek!) then down to 1000, then up to 2000, then down to 1000..... you get the drift. every second or so. Whats to blame?
Ive had very recent history (bad) with the...
Realise there are lots threads on this, just uploading my experience with this over last few days.
Clio wouldn start first thing in morning during the week, but there was a heavy frost.
Came home that night to try fix, and accelerator pedal lying on the carpet. Realised that the cable had...
Hi All- Lydden Hill, reduced for a full track day sesh's on Saturday 10th December. Was £165, now £105. Sign on 7.30am , but is small track
Dont think its open pit lane, think its 8 x 20 min seshs for novice, intermediate and Advanced
Anyone else fancy it?
Bit early for my 172 as still a few...
Any question technical, mechanical, solutions and faults. Anything you like car related
Thought this might be handy rather than search for specific threads (which i have and not found my answer)
I will kick off....;.
Q/ Car engine just about turns for a second or 2 (It started fine last week...
