Similar mod is popular on the older integra type Rs and they see very healthy gains from such a small lip.
I would go and do it but im more worried about it being there for a reason rather than wasting my time.
Came across this very interesting topic on another clio website.
Nobody can seem to give advice on whether this is beneficial or actually damaging to performance. And no one can confirm results of this mod either.
A few professional opinions of the more experienced tuners on here would be...
Im halfway through DIY fitting some to my car atm and they are a bloody nightmare.
Obviously now i started it seems silly to stop but if i knew how hard they'd be i wouldnt have bothered lol.
Adaptors themself for plumbing in the sender units can come to £100 :(
I saw a twin gauge pod in the display cabinet at ktec last week for mounting gauges in just that place.
Its easiest to use the cigarette lighter for power to the gauges or alternatively piggyback the radio feed with a relay from an igntion feed.
To attach the pressure sensors you'll need...
Im up for a convoy the day before as last year i was a little lonely going up there on my own lol.
Defo rate the camping though, although none of the CS lot were brave enough last year ( hotel losers lol ), the rest of the lads at the camp site made it a real good laugh.
I wasnt clever about it lol, i have an oil pressure sensor in the T-piece with original low pressure switch.
And an adapted sump plug with an oil temp sensor in it :p
After a long morning in the garage with bruised fingers, a £10 socket from halfrauds and a slightly damaged top hose i managed to get the t-piece fitted and leak free in the smallest space renault could make.
Now all i need is fresh oil to change the sump plug over for the adapted sensor one...
Well i have the plastic undertray anyway so hopefully will keep the temp sensor protected! Just means I need an oil change to change the plug, unless I do it real quick and top up lol.
May invest in a remote t piece then as I don't think I'll get mine to fit in the cramped 197 bay.
I use the advances red coolant from halfords, premixed.
Cheaper and easier to get hold of then Renault stuff.
Been in the car 2 years now and no problems so far, also know a few other 197 owners who use it too.
I suspected they may have been a source for an easy leak as the one I have has a vert flimsy seal on it.
I do have the t piece for pressure and sump plug adaptor for temp however space is extremely limited in mounting these and the sandwich plate would be a far easier option.
Have bought and intend to use an oil filter sandwich plate to use as a means of installing sensors for oil gauges.
Has anybody used these before for that purpose? Experiences in how well they work, leakage, restricting oil to filter/block etc?
Any advice or praise would be appreciated, thanks.
There was an old skool citroen that had an electric supercharger, read it up in Redline mag a few months back, although as stated the idea never caught on due to excessive weight/battery issues.
Not KTRs, this ecu is avaliable now from a local company with good reputation, although never dealt with them personally. Do alot of competiton applications.
Fastchip, do you have any additional information about operations on the ECU or any known benefits for an aftermarket over OEM with...
So if the cars mapped on one, when it runs the other your losing out on the expensive remap?
Just a local company, i wouldnt feel right posting names up on forums.
From other renault forums i've been on nobody seems to have a definate answer on this.
Obviously the mapping company that told me this could just be trying to flog me an Ecu i dont need lol.
Is the below statement correct, or does anybody have any other beliefs on the subject:
'The clio 197/200 ECU has four different base maps on which it will constantly change and choose the optimal one depending on weather, temp, humidity etc.
When you get the car remapped only the 'mode' that...
