It may not be much help, but I'm sure there's a link on here somewhere showing how to test the heater.
If you bridge pins 1 and 5 on the heater resistor pack (if you have climate) the fan should run flat out.
If not, could be a loose connector or worn/damaged brushes??
You're not a paid up member, so i'm not sure whether you can view it??
Try Google, there's a thread somewhere, will put a link to the correct ebay part but go to go out for a bit!
Look at the link Dan put up, like he says, it takes 10 mins to take out. If you have climate make sure you get the correct one, it has a black connector socket and 6 pins about 6mm wide.
Been thinking about this, sure my track rod ends were 14 turns on, so about 21mm which goes with what Dan says, the lemf ones went on about 5 turns hence why i fitted genuine.
Tried the transistor repair on mine but it didn't work.
If i had to do it again, i'd bridge pins 1 and 5 to get the blower running flat out and send mine to somebody on ebay too!
Fred said 6 turns is enough, it's a 1.5mm thread, so that's 9mm. I was an automotive engineer and was taught 2 x thread diameter which is what the 182 uses. Lock nut does that, it's the track rod end thread taking the load.
Before i offend or upset anyone, the above is my opinion and my...
The lemforder ones i got were around 15mm shorter than the originals, lemforder said not to fit them and rule of thumb says 2 x the diameter of the thread is a safe amount to use, i ended up with less than 15mm of thread holding my track tod end on. If i didn't use it on the track or it had...
Euro car parts and lemforder don't supply a non cup 182 inner track rod, have contacted them and they still list one. There may be another supplier somewhere.
Will measure my old ones, but think they were 335 long.
Resistor pack, common fault and seems to be happening a lot in the cold weather.
Do a search in the how to section. You can send it off and get it repaired on ebay for around £30.
Love it!
Went to the NEC classic show a couple of weeks ago and saw a shed load of Fords from tbe 80's. Then a woman at work turned up in her busbands mint 2.8 capri yesterday.
Been looking on the net at xr2 mark 1's :S
I searched to see what it should be but never found a common answer!
I don't trust any tyre centre to be honest, but I wanted to make sure it wasn't miles out.
What should it be on a non cup 182?
My camber was out, reckon it was a broken spring causing it.
Had the tracking done after fitting new inner track rods and they set in to 1 degree toe in?? Sure some of these places make it up, but it drives and turns fine....
Ian.
If you undo the 4 screws holding the wheel arch liner, 2 at the front of the arch and 2 underneath the front edge of the bumper/spoiler, you can pull the liner away enough to access the fog light and pull the bulb out.
Ian.
If you remove the plug on the back of the resistor pack and bridge the 2 outer pins on the plug itself, with the ignition on, the fan should run on full. If it doesn't or it's intermittant, could be the fan is faulty. You could leave the pins bridged out for a couple of days to prove the fault...
Someone will correct me if i'm wrong, but the top mount under the bonnet on top of the shock, rubs on the bodywork on full lock.
The mods is to take the mount off (thinks it's a 23/21mm ring spanner and an allen key) drop the spacer in and refit the mount. Takes about 5 minutes per side with...
Hi Andy, got a used resistor off a guy on here, fitted it yesterday and it's been fine so far. It was risky as i was worried something else on the car was taking the pack out.
Looks like the mod doesn't always work.
Have ordered a cd with wiring schematics on.
Cheers, Ian.
Received my used resistor pack today and it's been working fine all afternoon. I've got 2 mosfets from a different supplier, not sure whether to try one in my faulty resistor pack.
Anyway, the resistor mosfet repair doesn't always work. It could've been my soldering, but I doubt it! First...
Did you buy one from pal or ukmac?
I bought 2 from pal and they both failed and I've ordered 2 from ukmac in case the first 2 were a duff batch.
Also ordered a complete resisitor pack in case mine's fubar'd and keeps blowing the new fets.
