No I don't agree with that at all. On track cars they are well worth the money, the power delivery is awesome.
I just think on most cars on here which are used every day to go to work and maybe see a track session at FCS each year if they're lucky there is very little point to them.
A lad in a williams at Brands Hatch last year had problems on R888's - not sure if maybe the mk1 clio tanks/fuel pumps were worse
For the cost involved though I'd probably chuck a swirl pot and 2nd pump in there just for your own piece of mind - seeing how hard you drive on track ;)...
Oh and I think it's lost about 6-8kg in weight, maybe more. I'll weigh the box of removed parts at the weekend
I'd like to ditch that lower alternator bracket now and fit that lightweight volvo one I've seen people use but I can't find one anywhere :(
I got a replacement tensioner bolt for my alternator last night (mine snapped while I was trying to tension it) so got the engine all back together and running.
Took a few iPhone pics
New shorter alternator belt (thanks James/Northloop for the part number :D) -
Bye bye PAS pump -
No more...
LOL it's always a big debate whenever I post anything about ITB's
I'm the only one that has a slightly (very slightly) negative view of them - I don't think on a road/semi track car they are worth the investment. But then the usual ITB fans rip my car apart and say it's mapped badly LOL...
I think I might just do the m6 crimp thing with some solder - should be fine
I'm going to clip it across the support beams under the dash all the way along anyway so shouldn't be much vibration
Just need to find somewhere for the ecu to fit!
It's got a dedicated narrowband - I'm not using wideband simulated as narrow as I understand that's a bit of a shite setup
And it runs at 14.7 on part throttle through town on the wideband display - so how exactly is it setup wrong?
I should also point out he asked if I wanted practical economy...
You need to get a shitty runabout Dan
Greenlight have insured my clio on a limited mileage policy for about £260 a year!
It makes it mad to use a car like yours on a daily
Go to the motor auctions and pick up something s**t and diesel for a few hundred quid then talk to Greenlight about a...
No sorry I meant in comparison to the siggy 30mm which he said he was going to use as a walk around lens
For a landscape lens I still wouldn't buy the 17-40 f4L as it's so fecking expensive and you don't need glass that fast for landscape stuff
Don't get me wrong I had the 17-40 and it's...
Yeah...
Well I was probably expecting too much from town driving as even my Passat TDi 4 motion struggles to get more than 30mpg on an everage week - but I guess I was getting 15-20mpg
It's just not great driving for the car - 7miles of traffic and it never really gets warmed up, it was...
Ignore everyone who keeps saying to get lenses suited for full frame for exactly the reasons f0xy states
Going from 1.6crop to FF the range of the lens is so different you'll get rid of most things you own anyway
70-200 f2.8 IS is brilliant on my 50D and my 7D for track photography - but on my...
I'm not moaning people with cams have more power - I'm simply pointing out that a good set of cams with a good map produces nearly the same peak BHP as ITB's. Obviously not the same curve or power delivery - but for the money they are a good solution for people who don't want to throw £3k at...
Yeah - with a 60a power cable running along the dash though - I think i'd rather trust a proper crimp than my own soldering abilities
If it comes loose I'll end up with a dashboard fire lol
Oh wow didn't realise they'd be that expensive haha!
Cheers mate - I'll get some cable bought and get it all measured up for length. Might even pop up one day while you're working on the car and come have a nosey at it :)
Cheers mate
Yeah I seem to remember when I had the cable made up for moving the battery to the boot that the auto-electrician used some huge crimps - another tool to buy lol
Guys with EPAS (northloop, bigash etc...)
Just got my wiring box through the post - pretty excited
Gonna pull the dash top off tonight and get working on the wiring
Quick question - I can see it needs a 60A fuse (included) and a permanent power supply on that big cable going into the ecu...
That's an ideal time to do it - the 182 manifold is a pig to fit and in hind-sight I wish I had swapped the rack at the same time
The hardest work is removing the standard 172 rack - the PAS pipes are bolted to the block all over the place and are very difficult to get out
I ended up just...
No worries mate
When the epas ecu box thing has turned up i'll do a guide to wiring it up - and take pics of everything I've fitted so far
I'll post a full list of part numbers for anyone wanting a "tested" solution too :)
It's wider LOL
Fairly simple - more surface area touching the ground = more grip
And yeah 205/50/15's fit fine - had them on my 2118's for a few years
M6 - be interested if they fit ok as that's very cheap
My concern is the rsr's seem very wide - my mate has 195/50/15's on his 106 and...
