The issue of whether they need a different master cylinder or not is always an interesting one
When I had the brembos fitted to my 106 everyone said you'd need a bigger master cylinder - but I never found that, properly blead they stopped on a dot.
I'm assuming the 4 pistons in my wilwoods...
Here you go ... I've driven with both
Wilwoods
Pros: Very light, fit behind 15" wheels even with 295mm discs, cheap DS2500's
Cons: Not a brilliant reputation (they actually bend in some cases), not as good build quality as the brembos, VERY expensive if you want 295mm (my kit was £1200 and...
It's with Javelin mate - just a 2.5hr evening session that I thought would be good to give the car a shakedown and see how it all performs
It's all sold out now though - unless they have someone drop out :(
Look under the car - there's a long rod from the bottom of the gear stick onto the selector arm on the gearbox
Draw a white line down it so that when you put it back on you can line it up properly, then undo the clamp, slide the rod off, cut 5mm off of it, slide it back on, line up the lines...
I went out for a play in mine for the first time on Friday... man it's awesome
It literally feels like a new car again, the steering is so quick and precise. Clearly the old inner tie rods were well past it
The EPAS is interesting though - anything less than 70% on the road at 30mph speeds...
Oh there's still thread left - it's not bottomed out - but there's at least 20mm above the bracket lol it sticks up quite a bit
Grazo - under the drivers side of the dash on the far right hand side nearest the door
There's a slot that the metal bracket the ECU comes with slots into and...
Oh I'm making an assumption based on the 106 one - I'd assume easiest for a clio would be a rod on the bottom of the stick that just works the standard selector in the same way as the standard gear shift. But they could well have done it with cables.. I can't wait to find out :D
Yeah I was going to drop Nick a message to see if they'd considered making one as the gear position on a clio is useless. But then talking to the guys at Satchell Engineering they said they were already working with Nick on one and it'd be out in a few weeks
It's literally one of those cases...
I guess it's not much of a secret then LOL
They're not doing a cable selector - it uses a long rod.
Satchshift they call it on a 106 as it's designed by Satchell Engineering.
All the 106 race lads use them and they are SUPERB. My mate has one in his turbo 106 and I'm very jealous
Puts...
Honestly mate I can't say any more than that - probably shouldn't even say that
I know some lads working with Nick at PMS on something that I already have cash put to one side to buy - I'm that excited
Just keep an eye on their website/blog ;)
For anyone 6ft or taller the gear selector on the Clio is useless.
Even if you don't have a shorter one it's too far forward
There might be something better coming out soon but I can't say too much at the moment as it's in development with a company.
At the moment the only "solution" is...
Errrr no I'd rather stab myself in the eye than buy Spax from anyone ;)
I made the logical decision of going and looking at a set before buying and they're sooo cheap I could have predicted all these issues.
Wow...
This thread has turned a bit insane though - so summary
Spax start selling...
Took the afternoon off work yesterday as I've been working like a t**t recently
Got cracking on fitting my spacers
In summary it was good & bad news
Good - Ed's spacers bolted straight on, camber seems even each side according to my camber gauge, and it looks so much more purposeful with...
We definitely need a Lincoln meetup again
It doesn't help that the site staff/admin/mods won't create us a Lincolnshire region so people never know when the meets are on.
The really weird thing is some 182 manifolds don't have that dent in them - mine doesn't
It appears to me some people started complaining about the vibration against ARB, which is actually down to soft/worn or badly fitted engine mounts - and they figured the best fix for it was to whack the...
My statement about the "not for road use" excuse was only directed at these kits in particular.
They don't seem to be failing damping or anything like that they just rust - and they rust very quickly. Probably because of very cheap materials used in the production. It's an issue that also...
It's funny how customers given crap goods can get quite arsey very quickly. I've had to deal with that a lot to get where I am in life. It's just what customers are like and I've also been in the situation of being one of those customers so I can fully understand.
I wouldn't ever publicly call...
