Yeah that's the right belt - James found that if you run a 6 rib one it rubs on the plastic cover
However you really need to move it over a tooth so it sits furthest away or it will rub away at the cover
That's exactly where I wanted to put my adjuster but my electric window switches are...
Nick working with Colin and Sandy is the best news I've had in 3 years.
Coming from the 106 scene they work absolute magic!
Now get that pms-satch-shift launched! I sold my B&M shifter this morning to top up the funds for one haha!
No there isn't
I just rattled mine on with my cordless impact gun - about 120nm I would say
But basically get a big 23/24mm (forget which) ring spanner and swing off them. You can't really over-tighten them
Is the top nut on the strut tight - mine knocked and banged like a b**ch on the way to the MOT this year, sounded like a wheel was falling off
Tried tightening the top nut and it tightened about an 8th of a turn more and the knocking completely went away
What mileage has the car done?
They are actually a serviceable part and yeah dead easy to do with the right tools for £50 but then you need tracking done which is another £30-40
I'd probably just pay a garage to do them
That was my thoughts - the weight saving with the DCi rack is cool.
Fred apparently has bent a DCi rack though.... I would guess he was running slicks and driving like a lunatic at the time though
Yeah after a week or two with mine - I've strung the car, put 1.5mm of toe out on the front, -3 degrees camber, -2.3 degrees on the rear - it's completely a different car.
Loads of grip there that wasn't before and I'm absolutely loving being able to turn the assistance almost completely off...
Re: Bateseys 172..
Pretty jealous tbh... looks awesome
Still think I'll have this summer playing around with the ITB engine then over winter build a boosted lump!
I've just fitted 15mm rear spacers with -1 degree and there's no scrubbing
But I have ET43 wheels so 5mm closer in than yours
I wouldn't do more than -1 degree as they have -1.3 as standard so thats -2.3 at the rear
I have some of the -1degree K-Tec plastic camber shims that I never used...
That reminds me of head bolts on a 106 - they quote a torque setting, then angle afterwards, but the torque setting is so low it clicks at finger tight lol
;)
I can't wait to see the pics - I'm kinda toying with selling my mint Twingo rack to get some pennies back for fuel at Cadwell, but I'm also half tempted to whack it on as it's a hell of a lot stronger than the DCi on
Do we get to see a picture of you with a bead of sweat running down your brow like you're defusing a bomb while you tighten up the nipples on the new calipers? ;)
2 of the standard bolts yeah
One the hole nearest the driver if you have a look at it you need to either use a normal hex locking nut which is what I did - or file down two of the sides of the standard one as the DCi rack is designed to hold the nut and stop it spinning. The nut you will have...
The rack just bolts straight into 2 of the holes on the subframe (the top ones)
It doesn't use the mounting brackets and bushes like the standard one :)
Sky engineer confirmed to me they don't need a phone connection at all - it's only for box office orders if you don't have it connected to your internet.
I've had sky boxes including ones in spare rooms not connected to phone lines for 3 or 4 years - never an issue
In that case - needs more camber and lower lol
Nah looks absolutely ****-on
My front is currently about 10mm lower than yours and on any amount of hard cornering it rubs like a b**ch and that's with -3 degrees of camber :(
I can never understand why people panic and think the master cylinder needs swapping
It doesn't - standard cup master cylinder is fine
90% of the people I've spoken to over the years who've fitted 4pots then complained the pedal travel is too far just simply don't know how to bleed 4pots properly
Errrrrrrrr engine must be crap?
200bhp is exactly what I'd expect from the mods on that car - it's a Ktec ITB kit with Ktec cams - it's nothing majorly special
What makes you think it should make more power?
Mine btw makes 195bhp and it's a very strong engine - only difference that car has...
Same. It's nice buying pads for £50 a set instead of £120 a set :P
It's weird people also don't mention the massive loss of unsprung mass on the front and how that effects handling.
My calipers, bells and rotors weigh less than just the old discs on their own and you can definitely feel it...
Burpspeed's car weighs 300kg less than most other cars, can carry twice the speed through corners as most other cars and only gets used for 20-30 minutes at a time :)
I never had that problem on the 106 or the Clio - maybe the master cylinder is bigger on the 205.. dunno
I find them very progressive and much better to use than standard calipers.
