    Spray painting question (rattle cans)

Is the red solid or metallic? if solid then it won't need lacuqered as the paint is hard enough - thought Id check since the only 'red' i have seen for a clio is a solid

Anyone know what's wrong with this paint...

wet/dry sanding to sort out orange-peel, had this happen to the spoiler on my mr2 aftr a bodyshop bodged it, still after sanding/then hitting it with some g3 cutting compound and then a good polish it turned out pretty well. By g3 i mean the 'Farecla Cutting compound' can be picked up from...

Only issue is you will need the radio code (if standard HU is fitted)

    headlight levelling??

Ive not been flashed, but think my left xenon is slightly higher than right - so without starting another thread I thought i'd note it here to, possibly a similar cause, but above my knowledge to diagnose it

    Headunit keeps forgetting settings!

I work in halfords myself and depending on how busy we are me a some collegues have been happy to assist customers to help diagnose some faults - but s'posse any help you get depends on the store and in particular the knowlegde of the audio fitters in that store. As for testing it, check the...

    Bonnet release

Alight guys, used the search function and found numerous threads butno definitive solution, Basically as of yesterday my bonnet won't "pop" open, but i can get it open when someone pulls the lever and i push and pull on it. Once open i the catch still opens and closes fully, so thinking its...

headlight gone, not ballast, not bulb, not ignitor box. help?

in that case it sound like you've got some wiring issues, where the connector from the car loom goes into the back of the headlight, it it was me i would get my hands on a multimeter and see whats coming off the loom - that said if it required rewiring id be out my depth to advise, so would seek...

headlight gone, not ballast, not bulb, not ignitor box. help?

I'd try swapping fuses just to double check - mines looked fine when i took it out, but when replaced with spare the dipped came on

    Xenon problem

was where the ballast plugged into underside of headlight - seeminly the rubber isnt sufficient enough to resist water penetration, have u checked fuses? xenons are fused indepently - 15A fuse, 3 along top and second top row of fuse box iirc - would consult manual just incase though

    clio cigar lighter fault.

u can just hold the multimeter on the inside of the cig socket, if this gives no readings then disconnect it at the back and test the individual wires, should be 12V & 0V

headlight gone, not ballast, not bulb, not ignitor box. help?

Fuse, each dipped xenon is individually fused - 15A iirc

Does the standard head units have phone mute?

Should do, but you will require a T-harness for fitting a kit (ie. parrot kits)

    Xenon problem

this happened to mine, i originally thought it was bulbs so bought new ones, but when i fitted them and it still didnt work i discovered it was the ballast, the water in the connector confimed my thoughts - since then i have replaced it and been advised frm my local renault specialist to...

    Headunit keeps forgetting settings!

+1 my thoughts too, noticed the yellow label on the wire and once zoomed in notes to be fitted directly to battery, there will also be a neg from the hu which will require earthing to the car (prob best not running it to the cig lighter tho, best finding a bolt on body work)

    Headunit keeps forgetting settings!

Just noticed the pic, is this an alpine HU per chance?

    182 - Maybe Dead? HELP!!!

Only problem is if the battey has went dead then it's not going to hold its charge - considering age of battery it sounds as if there may have been a constant live/ bad earth which has caused this, just take battery out then get it tested somewhere local, if it turns out to be dead though try...

    182 - two annoying problems

Sounds like battery, nip to a local kwick fit/halfords and theyll test it for free and it'll tell u the condition of battery :)

    clio cigar lighter fault.

+1, multimeter on cig lighter, then ignition on should go from 0 to 12v on turn of key, first bet is to check/replace fuse - elsewise its a re-wiring issue
  19. S

    Headunit keeps forgetting settings!

Best bet is to grab a multimeter and establish the permanent and ignition feed from the loom, then adjust the red/yellow accordingly - or if u dont have access to multimeter just turn ignition on and unplug the red or yellow (or vice versa) and seeing what one turns radio off - then u know the...

    Changing Xenon Bulbs

After bumper removal and trial and error testing, turns out one of my ballasts has gone (some water in the connector when I removed it - gutted), so swiftly onto ebay and £50 later Ive just got to wait until mon/tue for 2nd hand one to arrive, so if all goes well ill be seeing clearly by...

Cigaretta lighter not working - Fuse? If so, which one?!!!

best bet is to unplug connector from back of cig lighter, then use a voltmeter to test the current, should be 0 when off and 12 when ignition is on - 2min job to test it :)

    Changing Xenon Bulbs

Lol yeah thought it sounded a bit extreme, but I suppose if the whole unit is disconnected then there's no chance of damaging anything ... its kind of ironic as I have a p/t job in halfords and change loads of bulbs for customers on a daily basis, but my store doesn't touch d2s bulbs, and when...

    Changing Xenon Bulbs

Alrite guys, Been scouring the forum using the search tool :p - but just looking to clarify my understanding of replacing xenon bulbs in a 182, I think the existing bulbs were the originals so these are 4300, and since my driverside has gone it seems the easiest way to change this is to remove...

alarm keeps going off as car thinks a door is being open when it isnt!

double check the bonnet catch as this can also trigger a door being open, had mine beeping when trying the fib after tampering in engine bay, and open and close solved it straight away

    Standard head unit

only problem with the aux lead adaptor is that they are temperamental buggers, we supply armorautomotive ones in halfords but due to many not working with OEM HU's they're not regarded as a reliable solution, here's a connects2 one you could try...

    Standard Headunit Connections

Will be something to do with the yellow connector (stalk controls), as the display will remain blank if this is not connected correctly - as suggested try moving it down a slot :)

    Apologies... Dephaser Opinions again

Finally saved up the £650 to get dephaser/cambelt/aux belts replaced on my 182 - total p.i.t.a as Ive only owned the car for around 2month and when I got it the timing belt was changed before I picked it up. After scouring the related threads regarding this fault, it appears that it was stated...

182 Alloy refurb pics (different colours)

Alright guys (hopefully posted this in the right place) Wondering if anyone has any pics of 182 alloys refurbed in different colours? - I understand trying to get a colour match for the factory anthracite is a nightmare, so was wondering what anyone else has done? I am presuming that the refurb...

Mounting amps and various other components?

... a guide would be usefull (holding off to the end of the month until I do this though) - I'm presuming the size of the MDF solely depends on the size of the amp and how high up the seat you want it to sit? Is there any specific thickness which you would reccommend for this? Cheers
