I work in halfords and know the connectors which you mention (as I have aquired a set myself), personally I am going to install the additional socket under the ashtray - therefore you can pull the power off the back of the existing cig lighter + its easily accessible :)
Mines is a decat 182, read up that the pipe will trigger light every so often so got a code reader off ebay (£20) and cleared it, not came on since. When it was on the car was running fine with no loss or power or mpg, just french-ness i guess :)
I'm from Edinburgh, so went to Rentech here to get dephaser checked out - sadly turns out it needs done (along with timing/aux belts) so got a month or 2 to save for this- but thats not the point :p
Seeminly these guys are some of the best you get above the border? - so I've read
Sent another email to a guy at warranties2000, who seems to be dealing with my email responses to the claim (his reply rate is quite good so here's hoping for a good response). I have read through my policy booklet, and in no part does anything mention 'wear or tear'. The following are...
Update:
Well turns out nothing is covered by the warranty so think my 5-6weeks of owning a clio sport are coming to an end, although rentech generously offered to discount the cost to £650, I don't think I can justify such a high expense considering I got the car for £3.8k and paying an...
Went to rentech in edinburgh (never realised they were in edinburgh), fault can now be confirmed as dephaser pulley, so dephaser, timing and aux all need replaced, grand total of £690,just had timing done when I got it in july, which was an additional 200 on top of my purchase price so a bit...
Nick,
I have attached another video, took the car for a drive as the noise only appears when warm, by the sounds of it the noise seems constant while reving, doesnt seem to speed up or slow down - just drowned out by engine noise, I held the revs at 00:21-00:30 which you can clearly hear it...
Thanks for replies, Im up in Edinburgh - any reccomendations of specialists nearby?
Ive had a look at other videos regarding dephasers, and these all sound much worse than mine and also seem to get louder when reving, but the noises coming from mine are only noticable on idle - and tbh seems...
Alright guys,
Had posted this before but no responses after bumping, so thought I'd repost. Just wasn't too sure if there was a fault with me engine or if its just running a bit rough?, sound really quiet on cold start, but after going for a drive it sounds like this...
Bump :p - any ideas from video if engine just sounds a bit rough or if there is a problem with it?, most videos on youtube about dephaser show a lot of knocking when reving but mines doesnt do this, just a bit tappety when ideling after running for a bit
Cheers
Steven
Re: 2x engine issues/queries - Now With Video attached
Alright guys,
Wee video of engine bay after I drove home today, as mentioned before it doesnt sound like this when the car gets a cold start and only becomes noticable after driving for a short while - sounds louder on phone than it...
Thanks for the replies, is there any guides about where the o2 sensors are located? Had a smilar problem with my mr2 before with these, but just let them be since there seemed to be no detrimental effect to mpg/oil consumption.as for the noise, my description of 'tapping' may not have been the...
Alright guys, got 2 issues with my 182, had a search on forum but couldnt find anything that fits the exact description of my problems... Which seeing ive only had the car for around a month im hoping these arent majorfirst one: got the emmisons light on solid atm, came on at the weekend when...
This is the dogs B*****s -http://www.amazon.com/3M-Headlight-Lens-Restoration-System/dp/B001AIZ5HY used it on my mr2 and just bought it for clio as i have some yellowy stuff (poss overspray on headlight from previous owner) , can take pics of before and after when i use it - prob early next...
Not much point in doing this m8, new MOT regs essentially automatically fail cars with aftermarket HID kits fitted - so unless your willing to unfit/refit every 12months would avoid it
Alright guys, thought Id best check with the professionals before making purchases, about to fit my pioneer HU in the clio as the cheapy DVD screen is annoying me, could someone advise on all wiring/adaptors needed to connect the steering wheel stalk to this? - I believe the pioneer-clio is a...
I had an exhaust done on my MR2 @ http://www.simonscustomexhausts.co.uk/ - who also do bodywork, although not had any bodywork done myself by them I seen some of there work while I was there and looks pretty good - you could try a run along and have a look to see if its what your looking for...
If this was me... I'd just get the damaged panels repaired, then get a full machine polish on the car - unless you've got money to burn I'd pass on the respray getting the job done right (incl engine bay/ internals etc) will cost more than its worth tbh
For the sake of £100, best take it to a professional, you will struggle to get it right with a rattle-can. Usually find that a bodyshop are cheaper than the dent/scuff repair guys too - so best go looking for a couple of quotes in your local region
Have noticed this myself since only owning the car for a week and half, got other bits and pieces to do first but will be looking to change mine to something similar: http://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/H7-Philips-X-treme-Vision-100-Headlight-Bulbs-pair.html?bulb_search=c19138 . Had philips blue...
Done this with my mr2 to paint internals - put in oven at 120 degrees for 6-7mins, then use flat-head scredriver to pry lens from headlight casing. There will be clips around the unit holding it together so unclip these first plus any screws. Would advise wearing some gloves as it does get...
Alright guys,
Recently got a 182, and apart from a battery change the cars running like a dream - well chuffed. But there are some bits and pieces I am looking for, so just seeing if anyone could give me some advice for sourcing the following- a rough idea of price would be even more helpful if...
No evident damage to HU wiring, jumped the car and took for a spin and put the old HU back in to see if this changes anything - just to see if there may be a possible issue with the new HU, will update when i try starting it later tonight.
Alright guys,
Fairly new to owning my clio, but had some recent issue. I bought the car on saturday and it was running great up until tuesday. It had been fitted with a dvd motorised screen thing which wasn't to my taste, so swapped it for a pioneer unit from my old car (standard iso connectors...
Alright guys,
Just picked up my clio 182 yesterday from a small dealer just outside newcastle and brought it back up to edinburgh, car drove like a dream back up the road but after I had it out last night I noticed some symbols illuminated on the dash - so thought I'd best check with people who...
