Take out the rear bench (seat) and the speaker grills will just "pop off" mate and they are just standard 13cm speakers in there.
I just did all mine in the Cup and I can highly recommend the JBL gto526es at only £39.99 from Halfords.
They are a LOT better than the standard sh*te.
HTH
Congrats mate...
I picked up my shiny new Cup last Wednesday and its been hard work trying not to boot it, as I am running it in gently at first.
My mate tried the "screw it from new" technique on his 172 when he got it and now at 2 years old it sounds like a diesel on cold startup, so I...
Well, I had a bit of time tonight so I had a look at the wiring and sorted it...
Now the front speakers are actually in phase they sound much better and those JBL ones are a LOT better than the Sony ones in the rear, so I am now thinking of getting another pair and taking the Sony ones out...
Go for blanks and get them machined...
My mate had his re-ground in his 306 GTi-6 and there is noticeably more of a tappet type noise than before, due to the lifters having to be pumped right up to cope with the now smaller sized cams. The lift is still the same with the re-ground cams, but...
There will be a least a gallon left Id say...
On my old car (306 Rallye) there was a massive 7 litres left when the light came on and you could go for miles & miles extra without a fill up. That did have a bl00dy great 60 litre tank though!
Yeah, the JBLs are the ones with the silver rotating tweeters...
Was concerned thaty with the tweeters in the dash it may be too biased towards treble, but it seems fine.
Bass is much better, volume is slightly better, but you still get distortion at higher volume caused by the head unit not...
I already had some Sony ones (xs-F1320SL - 120w - 2way) from my old car, which I paid about £30 for at the time and Ive fitted them in the rear.
Plus I bought some new JBL ones (gto526e - 130w - 2way) in Halfords for £40 and fitted them in the front doors.
Wanted standard fitement speakers...
Some do, some dont...
Like with all cars, its very rare you get them all producing "exactly" what the manufacturer claims.
There are some 172s & Cups on here that are producing more as standard though!
Not according to Renault!
It is 172bhp in the literature, on the website, etc...
As for ps to bhp conversion, it would make 172ps = 170bhp so marginal difference!
Has he told you what hes selling to get the RX7 yet?
Take a look >>> http://www.streetdragster.com/gtirforsale.htmhttp://www.streetdragster.com/gtirforsale.htm
Now that IS a quick car!!! :devilish:
I think thats inc.vat actually...
There was a list of Cup bits on here the other day with part numbers & prices and I got summat off the list and the price was the same (inc.vat) as I paid at the dealers!
2 cats??? :o
Thought it was 1 cat with 1 lambda sensor on a mk1 and the mk2/Cup is 1 cat with 2 lambda sensors?!
You learn something new everyday...
The mk2/Cup is just the 1 single cat aint it though???
The material is quite good at holding you in place actually...
Not done a trackday in my Cup yet (only had it 5 days), but Ive done a couple in a mk1 172 and I find myself jamming my right leg against the door to stop me moving about!
Really need harnesses as seatbelts are cr@p on track
Yup, I got mine 5 days ago...
But if I wanted one from the factory it was gonna be mid-September as my mate checked for me, but that was too long for me to wait.
So, he checked the Renault system to see exactly where all the brand new un-registered Cups were in the UK and I can tell you...
I decided to change the speakers in my Cup over the weekend as the standard items are sh!te to say the least...
Anyway, I foolishly took the speaker wires out of the plastic connector for the drivers side door speaker without checking first and so I know dunno which was +ve & -ve so does...
Still more interested in this sports cat that K-Tec are developing.
It aint a de-cat, so is fully legal, both lambdas can still be fitted without any problems, it will pass an MOT, etc...
Gains of 6-8bhp apparently!
My mate has 17s for his mk1 172 and when we do trackdays he swaps them about, so Ive driven the car on both 15s & 17s on the track and there IS a difference.
But, its not as bad as some people may think and the car does still handle well even with the bigger wheels/tyres on there, unlike on...
