that comment is not true at all,you dont have to amp them but it will obviously benefit.your advantage of comps is that you havent got one speaker trying to do two jobs,components allow the two speakers to concentrate on what they do best

your confusing max with rms,aftermarket manufacturers are in the region of 16-22w rms and 45-52w max
for the price you could probably get hold of some quality 2nd hand gear that will be a much higher rms
radio should still power up fine etc as they still fitted tuner radios to the authentique but they had a small rectangle on the radio as the display iirc.
inputting the code i imagine will literally have to turn on then press buttons as if you were using it with display so just remembering what...
