yeah in that case the fuses are ok, so jsut go fiddle with the rear light cluster, unbolt it, and just keep fiddlign with the bulb and wires will it comes on

get a volt meter and test teh connections, may just be a corroded wire, clean the contacts with a wire brush / wire wool, or just solder the damn wire onto the bulb. not sure about the dash thing, didnt' think a mk1 had the fog light in teh instument pannel, or maybe its just a faulty switch, if...

yeah the xenon bulbs are expensive, try a brakers yard, or search the internet for replacement xenon bulbs
yeah when you do change the bottom one, use what Fred said, but also oik the bottom one out with a screw driver on top of it compressign it down and push iit down and towards the front of the car
ar hha was your battery bracket broke at the back, down by the ecu, mine is like that, i thought it was ment to be like that, hummm, will have to keep an eny on it and call soem scrappies.

when you tightened the top gear box one it should just stop once its as tight as it will go !! if you do it too mugh on an old mount it will break the mount, did you removeit to inspect it, or just tighten it up,
if you got the car up on ramps (ie ramps at home), you will probably have the weight of the engine and exhaust all squised tight, take it off the ramps and pull it back and forth. probably just the exhaust banging around

can you mix and match ie... have 205 at the back and 195 at the front, as my current uniroyals are 195, at the front and my back are poxies 195's but the uniroyals are still wider than the poxies (cos they are poxy)

i have changed the 2 top engine mounts, how the heck do i remove the bottom gearbox mount ? it looks ok actually but i brought it so i may as well change it.
