Induction kit - 4bhp
SS Exhaust with decat 10bhp
Vpower - 4bhp
Remap - 10bhp
I make that a total of 28bhp, that would make "Clio 210". It all adds up dunnit! So the magic remap should work!
I can vouch for the quality of the Scorpion RS192 system and is not loud or boomy and wasn't too difficult to fit. I did a guide on hosted on another clio site.
If you're bored with it, with the money you need to come up with to get a DC5, use it to mod the 172 instead. A set of coilovers, remap/filter, ITB, weight stripping etc should make the 172 a little more interesting. The car market is pretty much stagnent at the moment and you'll struggle to...
I don't find it too bad, I used to have a Fiat Coupe 20v Turbo, that had the turing circle of the QE2. The Clio turns like a London taxi in comparison.
Has anyone tried disks from nitrac (www.nitrac.co.uk)? Their disks are cryogenically frozen. I don't fully know the science behind but the disks are frozen for over 24hrs at -185 degrees C which supposidly produces a disk thats harder wearing and resists warping.
The Scorpion does indeed make a nice burble on idle and really makes itself know when you peddle to the metal and fits perfectly in the exhaust cut outs. I recently did a 250 mile motorway drive and although its slightly louder than standard, it was not excessive or boomy. I did a quick guide...
Heres mine, with new alloy feed and the acoustic valve removed. The hose is the same length as the original hose including the acoustic valve, which is about 1ft long. Looks like the acoustic valve has been removed from yours too.
If it was an unlimited budget to modify the clio, I'd have Renault's F1 developers rebuild the clio using the most exotic materials and converted to RWD.
Since you've owned 172/182s theres no point banging on about it being a very economical performance bargain they are at the moment compared to the other hatches you've mentioned.
You could go back to a 172 Cup/modded 172, however, if you didn't get the 182 Trophy, I think you'll always be left...
Revs will rise and fall more quickly with a lighter flywheel, and can improve acceleration and engine braking. However, it may affect top speed since there will be less inertia/stored rotational energy therefore the engine will have to work harder to keep it spinning (I think!). With that...
I have it on my Trophy, good exhaust, not too loud, well made and fits perfectly. Loads of info/views here

I had a 172FF and now have a Trophy and for me, the Recaros are a huge improvement over the FF seats. Whilst the FF do have adjustable lumber support, I found it woefully inadequate. On long journeys I would get aches in my lower back. The Recaros do not have adjustable lumber support...
Best to apply plenty of the stuff on the inner surface of the clamp. Then once the clamp has tightened, wipe off the excess. Then go for a gentle drive to heat up the exhaust gradually to set the firegum. The firegum will expand and set with the heat to seal any gaps in the clamp.
