That clamp is cr@p, doesn't even look like these any sealant around the join. Get something like this:
and a liberal application of firegum around the join
Theres an EU legislation called "Know your rights" which states that the dealer can not negate your warranty as long as the garage that you used is V.A.T registered and uses equal or equivalent standard of parts to the main dealer.
If the dealership can prove that servicing from a non dealer...
You may be able to get them from Renault since they do a lot of exhaust replacements! or you should be be able to get them from a local motor factors or ebay. You need a 60mm sleeve clamp like below...
That exhaust looks in pretty good condition, obviously it was cut in two to remove the system. The strap can be used for a variety of things, but has nothing to do with the fitment of the exhaust!
You'll need one of these to hold the exhaust together
If its out of warranty, take it to an independent specialist. My nearest Renault dealer was utter sh!te, so I'll be taking mine to a specialist from now on.
The damper was broken, the remote reservoir was loose and the top mounts were smashed so not sure that a refurb would have sorted the problem, plus how much is it to rent a car for a week. I now have brand new damper and top mounts, but your suggestion is something to think about for next time...
Finally got my car back and it now feels tight as a drum, no slack just taut handling, just how it should be. Glad to hand back the 1.2 Twingo loan car which has got to be the slowest car I've ever driven, it took forever to get up to speed, there is no acceleration in that car whatever gear...
I'd recommend the Scorpion RS192 system, not too loud and has a deep bassy note and not boomy at motorway cruising. Also is a good fit and sits perfectly in the bumper cut-outs.
UPDATE:
Got a call from a manager in Renault Customer Services. He's basically took into account the mileage of the car, the warranty thats left, ie the dealership warranty, which isn't as comprehensive at the first 2 year unlimited mileage manufacturer warranty, length of ownership of current...
Oh, just another thought, would Trophy springs fit the 182 Cup dampers or would I also have to get the Cup spings to go with the Cup dampers?
I'm still waiting to hear back from Renault Customer services...........hopefully will get a decision tomorrow!
Thats correct, as long as the problem is identified/diagnosed within the warranty then its still covered, whether there's 6 months left or 1 day left. However, while I am being politely firm with them, I want to keep things sweet, the last thing they want is someone ranting off at them...
So, OK back on topic. Went to the dealership and they agree that there is a problem with damper, however, they have said that since I only have a weeks warranty left on the car and the fact its done 31000 miles, they will not replace it under warranty and have quoted me £1152 inc VAT for the...
Thats good, I hope the dealership will uphold the warranty!! Yes the handling is decidedly dodgy to say the least. It's slow driving and smooth roads only where I can until I get them replaced.
Cheers guys. The aftermarket idea was just an after thought and agree that what makes the Trophy special are indeed the Sachs dampers. The Cup items would only be on the car temporarily while the Sachs get referb'd. Any ideas how much the Cup dampers are?
Does anyone know whether 182 Cup dampers will fit a Trophy? Reason I ask is that my nearside front damper has a loose remote reservoir and has leaked oil and is therefore shot. My car has done only 31000 miles. I've only a few days left of my warranty (end of Aug, great timing!!) and will try to...
I had a go in a spartan but with a nice fleck pattern rear seat in a 1.2RN expecting to be really slow, but it actually felt no different to a 1.6 16v Clio with a 2.0 badge on it!

Does the rattle occur at a certain rpm ie 4000rpm? if this is the case you could have a loose baffle in the center section
Or does it increase the more you rev it? if this the case, then its either a loose heat shield or you have a leak in the exhaust. Check the joins.
The thing is, you've had the grunt of the LCR and yet it still don't experience the fun you had with a Fiesta (not exactly grunty!). I'd try a Clio 182 as well as a 197. The 172/182 have a different power delivery to the 197 and has "gruntier" feel to the power delivery. To counter that the...
What about these, they would be a close match in terms of price/performance/running costs/practicality:
Honda ITR DC2
Honda CTR EK9
Toyota Glanza turbo
Nissan Pulsar VZR
Mitsubishi Cyborg
Diahatsu Storia X4
I think it's what you're used to. Since you came from a turbo'd car, you're not going to feel shove of torque you get from a turbo. However, having said that, you will find that when you check the speedo, you will be going as fast if not faster (than a standard 1.8t). The Clio's N/A engine...
I recently upgraded to a Scorpion RS192 exhaust which is similar to the Miltek. I did a guide which might help:

In this hot weather, I'm glad I've have aircon. Any performance/economy gains will be more than offset by having all the windows open trying to stay cool and arriving at your destination sweating like a wh0re on night shift!
Horses for courses, if it floats your boat, then do it, no one is going to stop you. It really doesn't matter what people think as long as you're happy at the end of the day.
