Finally discovered your thread Dave, great read and the car looks superb! A lot of useful info for me when I start tackling all the little jobs on mine. Especially the rust proofing of the rear panels. Good to see people looking to bring these cars back to their former glory
I think the original door stickers and splitter are present, it’s getting new rear springs this week to get it through it’s MOT.
As it’s going to be a second car I’ll be in no rush so I’ll probably take the rear beam off completely and clean everything up and get it painted, renewing brakes...
Hopefully in the next week or so I’ll be back in a 172 Cup after 9 years since I swore never to buy another French car [emoji2357]
Hopefully this time around will be a completely different ownership experience.
All being well I’ll be picking up a 54k miles, 2 owner, in Mondial blue with original...
This is my old car. Traded it in for a bmw 120d.
Should have been looking for it on here earlier sorry. Had a few problems with it like oil leak, pas pipe leak and possible knackered steering rack.
Tried the scrap yards round here and they don't have any sport models. The thing with the brakes on a cup is to do with the load sensing valve so it's not that and my problem is front brakes
Car failed its MOT and one thing was front brake imbalance. Took the front brakes apart to find one of the sliders on the n/s was completely seized solid! After a lot of effing and blinding the guide pin sheared off.
Ordered a second hand brake pad carrier off eBay which was said to be n/s and...

Read my thread, I had the same problem with the lights. Unable to help with the horn though sorry.
Sam
It's one of them things that used to really annoy me but until it failed its MOT never bothered doing anything about it... Can't say I'll miss it either!
Yeah this is exactly what mine does and gets right on my chebs!
I'll have another look tomorrow and see if I can bend the connectors back slightly and let you know. Mine failed its MOT on it because they are affected by the operation of another light.
Thanks for your reply James.
I've taken the clusters out and cleaned the metal connectors with wd40 and a toothbrush, checked the earth was ok and I'm still having problems? :-S any ideas what else could be causing it?
Cheers
My 172 cup recently failed its MOT and one of the things was "rear lights affected by the operation of another light".
Having looked through the forum I found this on a post about buying Clio sports and what to look out for.
"Check the rear lights faulty rear light of any type isusually down...
When I did mine I put a spanner 13mm iirc about halfway down the tie rod and then a spanner on the track rod end and twisted them opposite ways. If you cant get it undone by hand try getting the 13mm spanner to lock against something like the strut then jack the spanner on the track rod end up...
I removed my battery a couple of weeks ago when changing my gearbox oil for ease of access! When I removed the retaining clamp the bolt that holds it in place sheared off and is now stuck so I can't replace the clamp. My MOT is due next month and as they check for security of the battery I need...
I got one from Renault last week think it was about £27. Maybe able to get it cheaper else where not sure?
Any way have a look at the first post on this thread that's the part number.

Thanks guys took it to an exhaust specialists to get fitted anyway so they had the screws to go in the exhaust hangers. The exhaust sounds so much better and I can't believe how quiet it is! But.... Now it sounds like my dephaser is on it's way out :(
Anyway if anyone is after a cheap second...
Hi, I'm getting a ktec sports cat and standard centre and rear exhaust fitted to my 172 cup tomorrow. I put a piper cross panel filter on last week and already the car feels so much smoother and sounds better.
Couple of questions though:
What kind of gains can I expect?
What gains with a remap...
Cheers the splitter makes the world of difference to the front end IMO and I've ordered a slightly wider and ever so slightly higher front plate to completely fill the recess. Although agreed it probably is still illegal I just think it makes such a difference to the aesthetics of the car :)
Also just found this link on a similar topic already with a lot of part numbers

Thought it might be a good idea to start a post where people can put part numbers for parts they recently bought or struggled to find a number for but eventually found.
So I'll add a couple of bits I've bought recently and feel free to add yours!
