in the (almost) two years that I owned it, Ive never floored my car. I did today, in 2nd, and about 3/4 of the way down, the throttle had a sticky point. This is odd as the car is throttle by wire or whatever its called. It felt like the resistance you feel when you hit kick down in an auto. But...
like most of the others here, just a tiny fraction above half way. Not even in boiling hot traffic has it ever risen beyond that point. I doubt thats because the engine temp doesnt rise, probably more the way the gauge is calibrated maybe - if it was rising up, although harmless, it might alarm...
are Uniroyals good then? Reason I ask, is I had them on my second Golf, and they were atrocious (that said, were going back ten years now and it was probably a different Uniroyal tyre than the one you suggested) but my nightmare of that brandname persists. But, if you reckon theyre really...
right, my front tyres are again shot (but got 10k-ish out of them this time). ive had no real problems with the Contis (please, lets avoid the Conti debate). A tyre I loved on my Golf was called the Goodyear Eagle Ventura. Its a wet tyre that was excellent in the wet, and almost as good as...
hi Viv, its flame red (but filthy at the mo).
I did post a pic (from my camera phone) up before christmas - i see if i can dig it up. someone here kindly helped display the pic, as when i posted it, only the red cross in the white box showed until they interveened...

cheers,
g
I have a May 02 mk2 172. Faults:
1) the 4k rattle
2) headlampwasher balls awol
3) had rust on the tailgate (warranty job)
4) third brake warning light replaced (warranty job)
there may have been others but theyre too minor to worry about which is why i have forgotten them.

"Interesting point made earlier by mr stromba.
is the 182 all about marketing or is it about improving an already good car?"
That statement kinda suggest that the two cant be combined. Of course the 182 is about marketing (lets be honest, I suspect the Williams 1, 2 and 3 may have had a...
that cars not a write off, not even near it. Theres no structural damage, its just the soft points (bumper wings, lights etc) that have been hurt. Airbag would not have gone off as the deceleration was gentle (relatively speaking), esp as the crumple zones have hardly been affected. Ironically...
please, is there a distinction between grit on the roads and salt. I thought the councils gritted with grit, not salt? (could be wrong about this though). Erm, maybe grit has salt in it?

to be honest, when I bought mine, there wasnt any new car I could think of that could match the whole package it offered (power, engine characteristics, handling, kit, safety, interior design, looks, size - I like smaller cars). Admittedly, I did no research at all re: alternatives, as Id pretty...
I once had a small amount of Optimax in my tank. Refilled to the brim with Optimax, pulled away and thought wow, this feels better!. But how could it? Im carrying more weight and using the same petrol as before. It cant be performing better.
Anyway, whether its perception or reality, my car...
I thought it was water on the base of my screen this morning, so I flicked the wipers on and woops....it was ice. Flicked the wiper off real quick so as not to burn out the motor...but left the wipers on intermittent! Suddenly, the wipers tried to move again and, in a panic, rather than flick...
the Clio is compared to the CTR, Leon etc as the whole driving experience. i.e. the Clio is often included in track days with 911s etc...that doesnt mean it competes with a 911 as such (like, doh), but as a drivers car, its on a par with them in as much as it is terrific fun, and entertains the...
