How cool is it when youve had a car for a few years and one day, by accident, you learn something new about it? It gives the relationship a bit more fizz! Yesterday I learnt that when playing a CD, if you flick both of the steering volume controls towards you, itll pause the CD - flick again...
I read the same letter, Rob. The expert that replied was the marketing manager of a company that makes Xenons and while he *might* be right about them staying level, I do agree - they can blind you more than other lights. I would say that around here, 80% of cars I pass at night have Xenons...
PJVTS,
I dont meant that I/they flick on their main beam, I mean a Xenon-equipped car on dipped headlights driving on a bumpy road, can look - momentarily - like its flashing you. Hence my incidents, and near miss with the VW. I know the answer is take more care and I will...but how many more...
Right, since Ive been driving home at night this winter, four times Ive had cars coming the opposite way suddenly turn right in front of me, crossing my path. I know why this is happening - a car with Xenon lights driving along a bumpy road can look like its flashing you. Indeed, Im guilty of...
troops,
since I bought my Clio over two years ago, I have always used the same key for the car. As you know, the Plip bit of the key has a distinct action when you press it down - it only clicks down so far as it locks/unlocks the doors. Now, because there are electronics in the key, Im...
"Dont really see the point in doing it on a front wheel drive car other than to reduce wear on components but if you are driving hard enough to need to heel and toe you obviously dont care!
Ive never noticed any problems in an FWD on the track as the wheels dont lock due to all the weight...
Heres how to turn your 172 into a 182 Cup in that Burnt Orange/reddy colour
First, you will need a flame red 172. Go and drive the nuts off it until the wheels are caked in brake dust. Now, wash the car BUT NOT the wheels. Now it almost looks like a 182 in Burnt Orange....if you squint a...
182 Sport, cheers thats what I wanted to know!
Tom - a GT is part of my long term plan. Buy the Ibiza soon, then buy a new house, then in two years park a lovely GT V6 on driveway of said new house.... ;-)
g
thats kind of ya Tom. Youve been quicker with the offer of a drive than the Seat dealer! Mind you, theres no rush.
Sometimes choice is a bad thing. I see that you can now buy used GTV V6s for £7k...either I stick to the Seat plan or I go cuckoo trying to choose something ;-) Would help if i...
Now, lets not start a bun fight. Next year, I plan to shop the 172 for an Ibiza TDi. This is part of my quest to slow down and chill a bit more. Until I saw new182s for little money at Trade Sales...
Thus, a dilemma is born - is the 182 appreciably different to the 172 to warrant me buying it...
i was thinking that the clios headlights would look cool if the outer cover was smoked slightly to look a bit darker. Does anyone offer a darker aftermarket cover that complies with all the rules and regs?
cheers,
g
as I only drive four mile to work and back, I dont get much chance to be anything but safe. I think if youre courteous, level headed, observant and always anticipating what might happen when youre driving, then you are safe. Speed is another factor - it is not the sole factor that determines if...
Hi Viv! Hope youre well.
Itll do it regardless of the amount of fuel in it - the weather/temp seems to determine when its going to be a grumpy guts or start first time.
g
troops, like some of you other guys, my 172 doesnt always start on the first turn of the key in the morning when the weathers mild (it starts no probs at all when its freezing or very hot, but gets its knickers in a twist on an average morning).
Anyway, to my question - almost every morning...
hmmm, its odd that youre lot not getting as many compliments. Ive lost track of the nice things people say about it. Moral of the story?
YOU SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT A RED ONE! ;))
g
When I bought it, I think I underestimated how nice looking the Clio is. I am really surprised by the number of glances, looks, double-takes and compliments it gets. I might nip out and pat it on the bonnet in a mo :-)
erm, except from my mate who said: ah, a Clio. One gear for shopping, one...
Just wanted to share with you Clio-lovers the nice things folks have said about my car this week:
From a client: hey, thats a sweet looking car. It looks very sporty. Is it fast? (is it heck!)
From my mates ten year old son: yes, i like the culture inside your car (Dont worry, I have no idea...
troops, Im planning ahead a bit next car-wise, and may make the change in March 05. Any idea, roughly, what my Clio will be worth. Its a May 02 172, flame red, totally standard, allow for 34k miles by then, one owner, excellent condition. Private sale.
any ideas what it might be worth by then...
pls, how much slower than the 172 are the next fastest non 172 petrol Clios? I was behind one yesterday (normal looking one, nice blue 3dr Mk2) that was totally hoofing along. It wasnt hard to keep up, but i was well impressed by its pace. Are the 1.6s (or a 1.8?) quite fast then?

i love the Daily Mail, precisely becuase its so brilliant at stories design to scare little middle England. Immigrants are killing our Rose gardens, or Jobless families passing cancer onto the wealthly or French threaten UK schools with giant Baguettes. Its a brilliantly edited and written piece...
my parents live in Maidenhead, i live at the top of a hill in Windlesham. So, I pull out in first so the cars rolling nicely downhill, gently slip into 3rd as the pace/momentum gathers, then gently press the accelerator so we slip seamlessly into a pace thats right for third gear. I do this BTW...
