Only took me an hour to completely remove and replace both headlights (on a mk2 172). I'm sure last time I tried to change the bulbs with them in situ it took longer than that. But yeah, a real pain in the arse.

Dunno, not tried driving it in the dark yet. Now I've got the lights off the car, I think I can see the problem with the xenons. The adjusters are plastic poles, one attached to a cog, the other to what i guess is the auto-levelling unit (and then a manual adjuster at the back of that). It looks...

Just to finish off this post....I've now taken the xenons off my 172 and replaced them with standard non-xenon headlights. They were a direct swap - unplugged the old ones and plugged the new ones in. The auto-headlight function still works fine too.

Good news - worked a treat. Don't look as nice as xenons of course, but my bank balance is breathing a huge sigh of relief. Took about an hour to do all together, pretty easy once you've been told how to do it (I used 16v_jon's method of just doing one side at a time to avoid removing the bumper...

Wanna bet? ;) Okay, you got me, it's a black mk2 172, but it does have Cup wheels, springs and shocks and now thanks to dead xenons, cheapo headlights! So there you are, a black 172 Cup....tadaaaa!

Or just worn pads. My rear pads were almost down to the metal when they were changed and I was getting the warning lights you're on about. Changed the pads and the warning lights went away!

I think I paid £60 including delivery from someone on Cliosport's 'Other For Sale' forum. About 1/2 the price of a set of aftermarket springs, and this way i've got springs and dampers that were designed to go together. It's also retained a very nice factory ride - I've used aftermarket springs...
