lol how wonky does that zaust look :D
Was made my the now defunct ASCAR / Exhausts UK who were notorious for shoddy workmanship. Had them fit a couple of exhausts for me (not twin 7" tho!) and they bodged it both times. Always wonky...
Not been for a couple of years Ive gotta admit, but if I were you id go by engine sound. I like to redline my cars so Ive got a reasonable idea of where to change, but keeping half an eye out for the gear change light just to remind you that a change is imminently required might be a good idea...
I always went with changing right before the limter kicks in - just over 7k revs. If you happen to need to change to 4th before the line, then do it. Got 14.9 seconds at York in a std mk1 i think with that technique. 14.6 with a decat pipe fitted.
Id leave out the burnouts if I were you -...
Does the noise get louder when going round a right hand corner (if its the left that youre hearing the noise from)? If so, then its gotta be the bearing - heard it too many times myself on Clios.
What he doesnt seem to realise, is that when peoples heads turn or they take pictures on their phone, its because theyre laughing at him:

LMFAO - I see this car EVERY day on the way back from work in Sheffield. Pulled up along side him at some lights one to chat and he basically blanked me - I was in a 172 at the time, you would have thought he would have made the connection. Total c**k if you ask me, his car looks sh*t and those...

To be fair, I really cant see how my Willy handled any better than my 172 - and the 172 has the same turn of speed, but with added creature comforts. But it doesnt connect to the soul in the same way as my Williams did.
Got to agree with...

Quote: immaculate prior to crash.
I think that says it all...they seem to be trying to sell it as an immaculate V6 that just happens to have a bit of damage on the front, rather than a badly smashed V6, which is what it looks more like. Also possibley listed as a write off which would do...

I have videos of the Curborough trackday I did with the Xpower forum in July (sadly on analogue), and Ive got a lot of Cliosport Curborough videos that Ive...

S2000 is not an option. More of an alternative to the Elise rather than an Exige.
Well, whatever you get, can I have a go? :D I didnt break your MINI and I extracted a good 0-100 out of it for ya ;)

Like to add Rhys, the latest "incarnation" ZS in 180 form looks the business as well. Had the pleasure of driving one all round Millbrook last year and thoroughly enjoyed myself.
I think theyve really nailed it with that new 180. If it...

Ive driven the ZS180, cracking car, proof you CAN make a silk purse out of a sows ear.
This is so true. I never thought Id be doing anything with a Rover 45 other than laughing at it. I swapped my 172 mk1 for an MG ZS180 7 months ago...
Sold my mk1 172 to a dealer a few months back for £7k (36k on clock). Just set yourself some money aside for some decent springs as the handling isnt too hot as standard. Will be fine with some Eibachs on.
As a once only "see what it can do", my mk1 172 managed 143mph measured with GPS, down a very, very steep hill! Thought the car was going to shake itself to bits. Not an entirely pleasant speed to travel at in a Clio.

Late mk1s and mk2s have them but its more of a change gear this hurts light.
Its the early MK1s that have them. I think its from when they switched to putting the 2nd lambda sensor on that they gear change light ceased. I had a very...

So youre saying you think that if its gears were lengthened to allow 60mph...

Got a Devil decat from Prima, but apparently it doesnt fit the Cup. I thought it did, but there you go. Im sure someone will make one up for you for £50/£60.
Decat, induction kit took my mk1 172 from about 15.2 1/4 mile to 14.6 1/4 mile. It felt quicker still and definitely better to drive after the inlet manifold. If i were you Id go for decat for sure, best mod for the money, plus a panel filter, full exhaust system and if you have £200 left, the...
As matt says, its a mixed bag. Ours seemed like a good one (from quality point of view) for a few k miles, but gradually gave up the ghost. It was out of warranty too, which made matters worse. If you get a mk1, make sure its one with the alloy bonnet - the original and the best ;)
The rolling road tests were inconclusive. The "control" car that we took along that ran the previous time had gained 10bhp on the previous run with no mods, and mine "gained" 10bhp as well. However, if i remember right, the torque curve was better after the inlet manifold, with more torque lower...
I went from MK2 to MK1 172. I had both cars about the same amount of time (10 months for each) and did the same mileage in both (12k in each). My MK1 172 was undoubtedly faster than my MK2 172, but I think my mk2 was a bit of a dud in the performance stakes.
I have to say though, I always much...
