Ive had my 172 now for close on 2 years but living on the highveld (1500m above sealevel) the car has only made 145bhp/127ft.lb @ flywheel (120bhp/105ft.lb @ wheels) so while the car has been nippy, its never really been what I keep hearing about from you guys.
Drove down to the coast for a...
I tested all this once, filled the car up properly, then drove till the light came on, diag trick showed I had about 5 litres(60km) left in the tank (45 litres used). I then drove till Id used 49.9litres and filled up...so quite accurate I think

I dont know how the Golf IV V6s compare to the Golf III VR6 but a mate of mine has a highly tuned VR6 (3.0 conversion, exhaust, cams, etc - 220bhp @ fly / 190bhp @ wheels) and Im running a 172 which until recently was standard.

Around 600km (370mi) but that is driving at either the 120kph (75mph) limit or about 10-20kph (6-12mph) less depending on the incline.
I dont use the trip estimator, but Im getting very good at estimating how much i can keep driving depending on fuel used.
The other week I drove till the...
