I think it was 181bhp and 170lbft and that was just by adjusting fueling That was chip and cams, but not decat God I wish I could get those figures on my Clio but the cams are a bit of a problem out here...

I went from a mk1 shape 1.4 16v to a mk1 shape 172 simply because I liked the styling better and the mk1 is more raw, especially on the track, the mk2 has become a little too soft

So what you guys gonna do to lower the compression? build up the head? get different lower CR pistons, if so what pistons would you use?, or grind down the std 172 pistons to the required CR?

I wouldnt have thought it possible to turbo a 172 without dropping the compression???

ps...my mods were done in the order above so by far the chip gave the biggest gains (well I can really feel that low down torque) Maybe speak to Andy from GDI (search on here for him) as hes done some very good work on the 172, including piper cams...Can you say 172 with 170 lb.ft

Yes you can and its been proven, but only in perfectly dry conditions. ABS is there as a safety device and to make it safer when you stomp on the brake pedal in sheer panic. Having done an advanced driving course in the 172 with and without ABS Ill not even remove the fuse for track days...

when mines at the right operating temp it sits just slightly above the middle, even when driven hard, but then again ...africa...a bit warner than britain

Last night I pulled in to get some petrol, and for some reason I did that little diagnostic thing with the stalk button and all the power I had before with the chip is just gone...car feels like a snail. anyone know if the cars ecu can just reset the SMT6 like that...Gonna have to get back to...

Well speaking from experience, your mpg shouldnt be affected too much...in fact, Id say mu mpg was about the same, if not slightly better since Im not changing down so much to find overtaking power anymore. And yeah, the more mods you have the more power the chip will be able to free up

Well I had a Clio 1.4 16v RXE before my 172 and the 172 competes very nicely in terms of fuel consumption...thats one of the advantages of having a big engine in such a light shell...for normal comuting the engine is hardly doing any work at all. It was the same when I had a 1.8 8v mk1...

Threw some fluid in last night and the noise went away instantly...yet, no leaks this morning on the drive...will keep an eye out for that. Any recomendations about which fluid to use?
